Region coding has been turned off for PS3 consoles towards PS3 games. But, it doesn't work for PS2 games. If you have a Euro PS3, it'll play any region of PS3 games. But, it won't play ANY of your American PS2 games.

I learned this the hard way. I bought a copy of NamcoXCapcom on Ebay. The game was only released in Japan. It won't play on my American PS3. But the imported PS3 games I've bought work just fine.

Movies and PS2 games aren't multizone. Same story other way around - I live in Europe, but my PS3 is american - can't play euro games. To be honest with you - I don't really give a wooden nickel about this - I bought PS3 not for old PS2 games, but for PS3 new ones. They're multizone.

you ought to purchase a ecu PS2, or a modded one, or a modding equipment. because of the fact that there are a lot available and it relies upon on your kind, you will could desire to seek the internet for "ps2 modding equipment". as an occasion in case you have a PS2 fat you will get an person-friendly equipment the place you place a disc in and it boots up, then you definately use somewhat slider to open the disc tray and positioned your ecu disc in. yet once you have a PSP slender you may desire to substitute the conceal with a distinctive one, and so on.
