Hi Shirl
Both side effects and withdrawal symptoms vary from patient to patient, so I really would suggest that you go back to see your Dr.
This link to netdoctor.co.uk gives withdrawal effects that can be experienced when people stop taking this medication:
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001555.html
and it seems, from reading it, that stopping taking your original medication will cause dizziness if it's done suddenly.
Please make an urgent appointment to see your Dr and to discuss the problems you are having, he can then reassure you that it is a temporary problem, or he can tell you how best to cope until the new medication starts to work.
Hope this helps.

There very similar drugs being both anti depressants and cause no room for concern, there should be little or no side effects to these, if you do they will only mild things until the others kick in, usually only people with depression who get side effects from anti depressants are the people who just abruptly finish the course of medication without advise from the doctor

It is common for anti depressants to have initial side affects, on the subject of withdrawal symptoms you may well be suffering them from your previous medication and your new medication will normally take at least 3 weeks to kick in. It could well be a combination of withdrawal and your body adjusting to the new medication. Do speak to your GP and describe your symptoms. I wish you very well and take care!

You need to take any kind of medication for depression for a length of time usually determined by your consultant, psychiatrist assuming you have one. Taking something for two weeks doesn't give it enough time to start working. That said, you could also look at alternate methods, like just counselling, it helped me somewhat.

Usually docs will slowly take you off one medication while slowly increasing your dose o nthe other to avoid such side effects.
Personally I've never had wd side effects, even from stopping cold turkey - it's mind over matter.
You need to give your new meds more time to kick in.

I have suffered from depression on and off for various reasons.
Ive never taken medication, simply because i dont believe tablets are the answer.
Its your circumstances that are making you depressed... you need to work on that to get over the depression.
Its not simple, and it involves you taking charge of your life...... why not take a holiday? Sun and sea,and a change of scenery make all of the difference.
My advice is get off the pills.
