It is impossible to diagnose over the internet if I could anyway. I do know this: a headache is our body's way of telling us something is not right. Constipation can occur for several reasons one of them being something is wrong in the colon. Other things causing constipation is, not drinking enough water, not eating the right foods, other body malfunctions that cause the digestive tract to be imbalanced and many more things.
My recommendation, first, drink lots of water, eat all the fruits and vegetables you can stand without store bought dressing. Cut down on sugar. Make an appointment to have a colonoscopy. You are over 50 you need one anyway whether or not you have bowel problems in your family. Do a search on the internet for "holistic healing" and try and find someone near you to go and visit about healthy living. Notice I said healthy living, not miracle cures, or voo doo medicine as I am sure some people will misunderstand this to mean.
You can't go see one of those people once for a miracle cure and be good for the rest of your life. However, you can go visit with a practitioner regularly to live a healthier life and need a Dr. and medicine less often. That "voo doo" works if you stick with it but it doesn't work overnight.
But for now, get the colonoscopy.

As far as I know the heachaches and bowel cancer are not related, but stressing over bowel cancer can definately be a source of your headaches, as well as stress which yes does cause constipation, it is called irritable bowel syndrome or ibs. You really should see a doctor to be properly diagnosed, but if you say bowel cancer runs in your family you should have had a colonoscopy at age 50 anyway. Please get to your doctor and schedule a colonoscopy, I am 52 and already have had 4 of them done becaue it runs in my family, and yes I have ibs as well and migraines, imagine that! So do not be afraid, and go get checked. much luck to you.

Tell your doctor everything going on, your family medical history (that you're aware of), and maybe he will test you for such things as Addison's Disease, Krohn's Disease, allergies, etc. These tests could rest your worried mind. In the mean time, try to take good care of yourself, the best you know how. Include some relaxation periods. I have it on good authority that it's not relaxing if you're online or reading. You have to lay down or sit down, and put no stress on your body during the relaxation periods. That can be difficult, but it is necessary to alleviate the stress sometimes. Bowel problems are directly related to stress.

Straining to have a bowel movement is directly related to headaches. Try a daily stool softener that you can buy over the counter at any drug store.
