I'm a senior but I'm thinking that maybe spending the next 8 months and only walking away with a diploma and a crumby GPA is not worth it when I should be in college and that much closer to my degree. Early graduation isn't an option due to how late in the semester i decided this.
I would start at a community college for 2 years, work for a high GPA, and then transfer to a 4 year college.

So what would be looked down upon less when I want to go to a 4 yr college: having a HS diploma with low grades on my transcript, or a high scoring GED.

A diploma is much better than a GED. A GED shows that you have no patience and can't finish what you start. Really, high school is easy. It's much easier than college. If you can't get through h.s., what will the colleges think? GED's aren't highly prized.

Having the HS diploma with low grades is better than having a high scoring GED, for the most part. Can't help you so much in the college field; however, in real life, on your resume, most people won't even look at your grades. What they will see is: did you graduate HS, or did you drop out, and have to get a GED later (most people will not bother to do the calculation and find out that you got it early).

My advice is: go for the most difficult tasks you can imagine. That should help you the most, as it had helped many others.
