I'm 16 almost 17. Due to circumstances, I'm in my second year of college. I've been around women who have always been older than me. I find older women more attractive, smarter, more sophisticated and open to discussion then women my age. There is one girl who I really like that is 19 going on 20. We talk all the time, she smiles, mimics my positions and maintains eye contact. Is the 3 year age difference a big deal? How do I find out if she likes me? Finally, how would I go about dating her?

Ah, the joys of being yound. Unfortunately, there's no way to find out if she "likes" you, without sticking your neck out. The problem with American courtship is that people make it so black and white that you are either "dating" or "just friends". If you want to avoid that stuff all together, don't abide by the rules. Next time you see said girl, let her know that you have a craving for (name your favorite food) and that you would like to try a restaurant (name a restaurant that you can afford) and ask her if she would keep you company. In all likelihood, she'll say something like "are you asking me on a date?", to which you should answer "I am asking you to come to dinner with me". If she has a boyfriend, or objections, she will present them then and there. If she does, don't worry about it too much. If she doesn't, well, you guys are off to dinner. Once you are there, ask her LOTS of questions. The more you can ask, the more you will know, and this, my friend, will give you the answer you seek.

The rest, I leave in your capable hands.

Good luck dude.

oh, and there's nothing wrong with dating older women, but keep in mind that depending on the state that you are in, it may be considered statuatory rape if you guys bump uglies.

Well, first of all I understand what kind of situation you are in. I started college full-time when I was 15 years old so I was constantly surrounded by people who were older than I was. The thing I think it's important to remember is that although you might be intellectually their equal, social and life wise, you are still 16 years old. Unfortunately, I do think the three year age gap when it involves a 16 (17) year old and a 20 year old is in fact a very big age difference when we are talking about a possible romantic relationship and might lead to uncomfortable ness and awkwardness later on. You're lucky to have a friend and someone to talk to at this stage. I know for myself it was hard for other students to accept my because of my age.
And if you do decide that she is someone you would like to date, as a woman, straight up honesty is the best policy. Ask her to a concert on campus, or a movie showing on campus and see how it goes! Whatever you decide good luck!!

Hiya,Can I start by saying the way you have written the question you seem alot more mature and level headed than a 16 nearly 17 year old guy! You seem very confident so go ahead and ask her if she would like to go out some time, you will then know if she likes you by her response! If you cant pluck up the courage to ask her face to face, text her, atleast if she blows you out you can pretend you text the wrong person, lol!! I am 33 and my husband is 28, I have never been out with anyone older than me, I am just not attracted to the older man!!! Try speaking to some of her friends and drop a few hints about the way you feel about her, she may well of spoken to them about you, heres hoping!!! Good luck and happy dating!! If all fails, as they say there are more fish in the sea and you are still young enough to enjoy it! X

Take my advice mate:- simply ask her one question "does the age difference between us bother you?" then shut up and let her do the talking.......keep it simple and put the onus on her to commit. If she like you she will simply tell you it doesn't.

Then when you are 42 and can't find a woman your own age get 2 at 21 and start enjoying your life lol.

Age don't mean a thing mate trust me.......being able to trust you, having security and laughing is what really turns women on. Don't matter if you are 17 or 70 if you have charisma and a good heart.

That is no big difference. Your young and on your 2nd yr in college! That is a good thing. Your looking for a woman who can equal up to you cause all those high school girls are not serious. It is rare that an older girl goes for a younger guy, but show that you are mature and smart and serious and it will be easier for an older girl to go out with you. start up a conversation with her. "Accidentally" bump into her.

The three years is not a big deal in the later years, but it might be a burden at 17.
If you like her, TELL HER!. She will let you know if she likes you and then you can get on with the important things in life, like making a living and a family.
Dating has changed a lot since I was involved with it, so I can't help you there.
In my day it was dinner and a movie.

Well, when you are 30, and she's 33 the age difference won't mean much..but while you are in college...it's going to seem pretty big...to her at least. The only way you are going to know is to ask if she'd consider dating someone younger. If she says no, then you know not to ask her out...If she says yes, then give it a shot. You never know until you try.

Date like anyone else. Ask her to a movie. Grab a bite to eat. Or go to an event at college.

No problem with that.

My current girlfriend is older than me by 7 years.

Three years is alot when you are young, but you probably wouldn't be happy with someone your own age because of your maturity level. Just be careful
