Not all deaf people are totally deaf, most have a tiny bit of residual hearing but it's at such a low level and so distorted that it is not useful.

Auditory hallucinations that affect deaf people probably come from a different mechanism than schizophrenic hallucinations.
Auditory hallucinations that affect deaf people specifically derive from the lack of stimulation of the auditory nerve. Nature abhors a vacuum, so the brain creates sound. For some people it is white noise (tinnitus) for others it can be something referred to as Musical Ear Syndrome where deaf people (generally those who had previous hearing then progressively lost it) hear music all the time.
These symptoms can range from the merely annoying to the "bad enough it causes psychosis and requires institutionalization" level

Haha. You're question's quite entertaining. Made me stop and contemplate the possibility for a sec. Well to answer your question to the best of my ability, yeah I think they do have auditory hallucinations just like any other schizophrenic. But unlike the other patients who have firm beliefs that they are REALLY hearing things, deaf schizophrenics know for sure that they are indeed just hallucinating when they hear things. 'Coz they can't hear in the first place, right?
So, did I answer your question?

Depends on whether they ever had enough hearing in their lives. If stone cold deaf since day one, it'm much more likely to be confined to visual hallucination. If they once had hearing but lost it, or are just profoundly hard of hearing, then yes, probably. The thing about being totally deaf from birth is that the neural pathways for processing sound were never developed. Schizophrenia isn't gonna change that.

I used to work in a state hospital medical records department and I have heard that it happens sometimes.
We had a deaf-mute patient once and the chart said "talks to self." I remember thinking "how does he do that?"
