I can't stand my existing manager though. He's such a power hungry jerk, and I sell him under the table all day long. His business would fail miserably without me right now. I am on track to make my number this year that I have worked so hard to achieve...at the same time, he uses me and everyone else around him. What should I do.

Find a new opportunity. There are good bosses and bad ones, unfortunately the business world is filled with the latter. If you plan on moving up in that company you'll have to work on some political savvy to get you positioned as a manager. I was a top sales contributor as well - occasionally dealt with the incompetent/obnoxious boss but later decided that sales is great money but it's hard work to always stay on top. Since then I've migrated to managing large teams, departments and now I've moved into project management. If you're not set on staying with that company or moving up the ladder then look for a new job somewhere else, businesses are always looking for strong sales professionals.... and many offer lucrative incentives to those who drive the bottom line.

I'd find another job.

There are many companies/bosses out there who use sales people to grow their business but at the same time don't respect their sales people and don't want to pay them. But there are also terrific companies out there that truly value and reward their sales organization. I've been in both situations before, and from my experience you can change very few bad bosses and companies. So your best bet is to look for a new and better job, starting now, while the economy is hot and there is still a strong demand for sales people.

Sales is not a job where you stay at one company for an entire career -- you have to be willing to let go and move on if you want to continue to be successful and happy in Sales.

Good luck!

Find another job won't be your best solution because bosses are always act like bosses, they won't be your FRIEND instead. After working for 5 years after graduated from university, I finally decided to quit my miserable job recently because I couldn't stand for the stress and those demanding senior managers and directors anymore. No matter how much they pay you, they'll always expect you to contribute more than what you're getting from the company. If you haven't done any preparation to quit (in terms of $$$ income), I'll advice you to join some MLM business. Singaporeans' purchasing power are strong. You may earn some income in your beginning stage if you really serious about it. If I belive in MLM, I should quit my career long time ago and won't wait until now then quit. Good luck & cheers~

YOu have to live your life the best way you can. If this means putting up with a terrible sales manager, then so be it. This is what we do to afford teh things we want.

BUT there is nothing which says you have to stay there. Once your sales figures are set, you can take this information on a resume and look for a new better job. There is no guarantee that you won't have a terrible boss at the new job, but change is always good.

Are you sure his business would fail misreably without you? If so, this could be the card you play to get better treatment. Inquire about some other opporunities (but not just any opportunities....make sure they are ones you would actually want to do just in case you needed to). Nothing speaks like numbers...If you can show your value, you can controll your future...just remember that since you are in sales...in any situation a sell is being made....you are either selling them on your value...or they are selling you on why you should take the back seat to this power hungry jerk...

Best of luck with that

Should you consider leaving this company (I would in a hurry) Check the stats on Wellness Industry and its future predictions. Study business practices, not just sales since you are a pro already, just 'dust off' your knowledge about leverage.

Question to Donald Trump: --- What would you rather have? 10% of effort from one thousand people, or 110% of your own effort? Yes you guessed his answer!

By using leverage, your income not only has unlimited potential, it also lacks any manager for you will be your own boss. When you make up your mind drop us a line. We will help you evaluate your options and make some recommendations as we already do for many individuals, couples and companies alike.

PS
My wife and I, we have two children (Grade 1 and 2).They'd never seen us going to work. We take them to shool and we are home when they come back. They never heard from us that we can't afford this or that. Reason? We quit our jobs and developed our income from Home Based Positions.

I had the same problem when I worked for Sprint and I left them. I still remember their passwords, so I check on them once in a while and they are only doing a third of the sales they were doing when I was there. LOL
I see my old customers everywhere and they say how bad it is now there

If ur as good as u say u are, ull be fine and find another job really quick. If ur not happy with ur job, there is not a worse feeling getting up in the morning.

my advice would be just to put ur resume out there while ur still working for him, if anyone bites....take it. what do u have to lose........other than a crappy boss?
