So simple, people. As long as you base your conception of divinity on that book (Jews, Christians, Muslims) your sons and daughters will die in wars. After all, people think it's permissible to do what their gods do.

You can leave Christians out.

Jesus taught us to "turn the other cheek" and "love your enemies". Does not sound like "war" to me.

The whole premise of your question is mistaken. The Old Testament is not primarily about war. Christians follow the New Testament covenant, which Jesus established. And Muslims don't follow the Old or New Testament. They have their own holy book, the Quran. Where do you get your information from???

God knew what the People would do even before the Bible was wrote.
People are not Robots. They do what they want to do.
The Bible say's if we live by the Sword we will die by the Sword. It isn't suppose to be this way.

Man is running the system right now.
God is sitting back watching us destroy each other. He don't like it! War is not on God's Agenda. The only time God is going to use war is to destroy the Devil and his followers. If you read the book of Revelation it will tell you that God is going to stop all Wars for good when Jesus sets up his Kingdom. Jesus told us his Kingdom was not of this World!

Praise God!!!!

No doubt Christians are in a war and rightly so. All creation is at war. just look around. But we are not at war against flesh and blood (not real believers in Christ) we are at war against spiritual darkness, against spiritual powers and we should never forget this and let down our guards, but remain vigilant.
Some no doubt, who brandish the name about like a sword, do more damage than good and some of these may not even be real believers.
For example there was a woman who followed some of the apostles around shouting to the people that the men where from the living God and that they brought news of salvation. Finally Paula (I think it was) being filled with the Holy Spirit, turned around and demanded that the spirit of divination come out of her and it did.
I've met people who were shouting to the crowd that they were sinners and no doubt we all are but these had no compassion or love for the people that could be seen in any way.
From my studies, Christ was always gentle with sinners and very hard and even harsh towards the religious leaders of his time. He was fighting a spiritual war and he knew where the enemy was attacking from.
That said, from what I see here in this little microcosm, it is the unbelievers who harshly attack the believers for talking about the love and peace they have found in trusting in the salvation of the living God.
Whether you belive the story or not, if talking about a God who would suffer and die at the hands of his creation to forgive them for their rebelion against him and restore their right standing with him without cost, is considered violent, I most not be of this world.
Finally, the wars of this world are faught with physical arms. This has nothing to do with Christs army (for the time being). Wars are faught in the name of religion and some times in the name of Christ but anyone can pick up a name and use it.

First of all it becomes obvious that you never have read the Old Testament. It is not all about war. It is about how God works with people.
Secondly: Jesus tells us not to be involved in war and that is why true Christians keep his words and avoid being part of war.
read the gospel of Matt. and you will get the picture.
To add Muslims to the equation shows that you again do not understand that unlike Jews and Christians the Muslim faith has no connection to theirs. It was a made up religion by a sex maniac who love little girls and lost of sex. He made up the whole Koran out of his head and it is full of fairy takes with no historical accuracy.
Get back to school.

The Old Testament is not primarily about war. It is about the history of the Jews, It about Mosaic laws. Your theory falls apart because Atheistic countries also know violence. Countries with no Jewish/.Christian /Muslim history know violence.
The history of Red China for instance. They were not concerned with any religious history and violence was epic!
It is easy to pin all the failings of this world on religion but it is not true.

The fact that you said that the Old Testament is primarily about war proves that you do not know the old testament, so your idea about what we think about 'divinity' is wrong and wipes out the rest of your statement.

have a nice day.

EVERY religion has a history of war and violence. All European pagans were in clan and tribes. They warred all the time. It was like, what they did. Hell those of us who still follow those ways like to argue more then anyone you have ever met in your life. Celtic Recons and Heathens are worlds worst. The good news you never have to wonder what we are thinking.

There are different degrees of intelligent questions based on the knowledge of the askers. I suggest you read the Bible then ask the question based on what you've learned.

Jesus was a man of PEACE, not war.

Don't go judging us based on what happened in the OLD Testement!

These are NEW Testement times, & we are NOT all like that!
