BETWEEN 3000 AND 5000 MILES AND HAVE THEM REBALANCED AS WELL.

There is no way you need to balance your tires every time you rotate them, if ever at all after original balancing when they were new. If your mechanic says you do than find a new mechanic. As for rotating tires I have found every other oil change to be perfect, assuming you are changing oil at reasonable intervals.

Well, I know that it's usually 3,000 miles, but I never keep a log of how many miles it's been since I bought my last tires. So, what I do is I everyonce in a while I stick a penny in between the treads and if I see Lincoln's head, then it's time to change the tires.

Most tire shops recommend every 5K miles, but not more than 10K miles. It also helps to get the tires balanced when they are off the car for rotation.

Generally, rotate every second oil change on a rear wheel drive car, every oil change on a front wheel drive car.
The reason is on a rear wheel drive, the front tires are exposed to the load of turning. On a front wheel drive, the tires have the load of turning, AND the load of providing the driving power.

Nissan's recommended mileage for rotating your tires is every 7500 miles. It may vary by manufacturer, if you still have the "Maintenance manual" for your car check that it will tell you. You can also check the "Owner's manual", sometimes it is listed in there as well.
