I'm no longer a student, but i'm the only liable person in my household now (the rest are students). This means i have to pay for the lot! Oh cool i get 25% discount, but i still pay 100 per month which is impossible. Can i just send them a fotocopy of last years letter from uni with "altered" dates? Will they check?

I DO have a job! I just think its unfair that i should pay 75% of a bill that should only be 25%! If the system wont listen to me i'll go around it

No you can't - that's fraud. And you WILL get caught. And fined. If you can't afford the council tax then move somewhere where you can. Or sell the 42" plasma TV, your car and all the other luxuries students manage to accumulate while all the time pleading poverty.

I'll assume that everyone has an equal share in the property (or you are all renting the house together) .... that being the case, they should all contribute equally...
... on the other hand, perhaps it's time to move into a property where everyone is working ?
PS chances are, sooner or later, any falsified document will be entered into the Computer ... and the Computer will very quickly work out that some-one with a job (paying PAYE) can't also be a full-time student ..

Sending a photocopy of last year's letter with altered dates is fraud, which is a crime.
50% of the Council Tax relates to the premises. The students in your premises should be paying enough into the kitty to contribute to that element.

Unfortunately, they will csheck and prosecute you for benefit fraud. If you are alone you can only claim 25% of the council tax. Doesnt matter about last year. I think youre uni mates should help though as they live there too.

Essentially if you get found out you'll be billed for the whole amount for the period you claimed to be a student - don't pay that and you be summonsed by your local magistrates court. After that it can progress to bailiff action and eventualy committal - a magistrate won't look kindly on fraud.
