I have interviewed for a company Wed., and they called me Friday and offered me the position. The HR person said that the written offer is forthcoming (waiting on the President of the company to sign) - would you give your notice to your current employer with out the written offer???

Do not give notice until offer is in writing. Employers respect employees that give notice however you are not 100% shure you have this new job. Wait untill you have it in writting and give your old employer as much notice that you can.

No. The time between the verbal offer and written offer would be so small as to not make a diifference.
You still haven't cleared th last obstacle-- the signing by the co president.
What if he disapproves?
I am sorry, but I've had my tail scorched before by these circumstances. The fact that the co pres has to sign the letter isa red flag.
I hope the letter arrives today! Good luck.

No way would I hand it my notice.
Why not wait until you have a written offer in your hand - then you can hand in your notice.

No point in taking a risk that there is a slight chance the president will change his mind. I am not saying this will happen but if it did and you had already handed in your notice, then you would be without a job.

Just be patient for a few more days.
