Young was a very good and clever fighter with above average boxing skills. He almost beat Ali and was able to beat George Foreman. Holmes is a different story as he was a champion with a superior jab a no nonsense approach inside the ring. Young would give a good account of himself and last the distance but would lose a 15 round decision say 10 rounds for Holmes 4 for Young with one even.

great question. 1st of all you need to extend expiration date so more people can answer. after young lost to norton i dont know why the hell don king did not put him in the ring with holmes instead he put young to fight novice ossie ocasio twice and he lost both. this would have been very skilled matchup. i see holmes winning by large margin in decision. young would have been skilled enough to last distance and not get stopped. king also failed to make holmes- ron lyle fight

Holmes cruises to a boring decision, 148-138.

Holmes easily-he was one of the most underrated champions. Young was a good boxer with no real power.

Holmes in an easy decision, just not an easy fight to watch.
