Why do guys with ginger hair feel the need to grow a beard as well?

People with ginger hair tend to have sensitive and often rather thin skin so shaving can be very hard on it. Growing a moustache and beard can reduce a lot of bloodshed and rashes. Facial hair can also protect parts of the face from sunburn which is another problem for redheads.

A nice soft beard on a guy is more pleasant than rough rash or stubble (as long as its well-groomed).

Why shouldn't they? If other guys can, why not redhaired men?
