They can't get a copy of your tax return, or find out what you made last year unless in talking to your former employer for a reference, it's mentioned and that's very unlikely unless you inflate it a lot and it's obvious you wouldn't make that for the job you were doing.

I'm not recommending lying to a prospective employer. It's not uncommon though for people in an interview to inflate their current salary by maybe 10%.

I don't think they can see your taxes or anything but they can ask what your previous employer what your salary was when they call to check your references.

I don't think it's any of his beezwacks. Find a place where they don't make an issue of it. I usually leave those spaces blank.

I did run into a problem the other day, but the guy was a scumbag, anyway.

You're better off working for yourself, if at all possible.

They can't confirm your prior income. However you should NOT lie to them. If they EVER find out, lying during the application process is grounds to fire you at any time. What you SHOULD do is negotiate on the basis of what you are worth to them. Your compensation history is NOT an issue. If they won't proceed on that basis, consider it a VERY bad sign.

No, they cannot find out from the IRS, but when they check your references, your current employer might tell them if you lied.

Yes you can and problem wont get caught BUT if they find out they can fire you. If they ask give a vag number.
