this is derived from an Afro American word game known as playing the dozen. a friendly sort of dissing contest in which each player disses the other by insulting his mother. example. yo mama wears army boots and chases troop trains or yo mama carries a mattress on her back and gives curb service. as time went on it became a reply to a low level dis by just replying yo mama or yo mom.
