I have 2 tattoos and they did not hurt they were annoying but not very painful think of how a shot feels and well getting it like a couple of hundred of times. Also it depend on where you get it the lower back is not the bad just when they go over the spine oh and when they shade it that hurts the most but its bearable The best thing is go with someone it will make it easier so you can have someone to talk to and keep your mind off of it. I am sure you will be fine Good luck :)

I am such a wimp, I mean a serious chicken when it comes to pain, I am the first one to be taking a pill if my head hurts. But you know what< i have 5 tattoos, so it can't hurt that badly!! It's more of a sunburn feeling really, like something lightly burning you, well that's how I found it. I found the healing more unearable than anything, when it gets itchy, that is more annoying than the actual getting the tattoo done.

I have a tattoo on my hip and one on my lower back. I am deathly afraid of needles, yet I cant wait to go get another one.

The part that hurt the most was when they went over a portion of bone. Everything else was fine.

The outline is more uncomfortable than the shading.

To me it felt like an intense sunburn. Not really painful, just a bit of an irritating burn sensation.

I say go for it!

well considering a tattoo is done with needles, yes there is a certain amount of pain involved. i've got a small one on my back for quite awhile now, and yes it hurt, the beginning is always the worst part, but after you get used to the pain, it will subside quite a bit.

it depends on your threshold for pain. but i think it's quite manageable unless you're the kind who passes out when you fall down, that kind of thing. i think shoulders look great though! all the best with your tattoo!

Tattoos hurting depends on people pain tolerence and the location of the tattoo. I had mine in the middle of my back and could hardly feel it <3

You have to go in expecting to feel the pain of someone sticking needles on you for how ever long it takes, if you do that then you will be ready. But no, I thought that it would really, really hurt but it depends on weather you have muscle in the area you wish to have it. If there is more bone than muscle then it is slightly more uncomfortable but like I said, go in expecting the pain and it will be ok.

i got pawprints on my back and yea it did hurt. it was more of an annoying pain feeling. i have a bad back tho so that may have not helped. the worst was when he stopped tho because then i had time to think about what he was doing and was almost on the floor.lol! they do look good after tho!
just give it a lot of thought before getting it!

They do hurt but its def. tolerable, but everyone has a different tolerance of pain. Everyone scared the crap out of me whenever I got my first one done because they said it was going to be extremely painful and whenever they started tattooing me I was so irritated because I worried about nothing all day..... Good Luck!!!! Hope I was a little bit helpful!!

I'd say of the two places you're considering, go for the shoulder rather than the back as it's your first tattoo. They don't hurt at all.. they feel like a comb or a hairbrush against your skin. The only other advice I can give you is get a small jar of Vaseline to put on your tat for the first few days to keep it sealed and clean.

Does a bear **** in the woods? C'mon now, it's a needle being jammed into your skin hundreds of times per minute. YES IT HURTS LADY! The most painful spots are on the inner wrist, the ribs, and on the tops of your feet. If you're scared, they're not for you.
