It is true because you believe it. Truth can be subjective not absolute.

Who goes out and says, "I am going to believe this even though I know it is not true?"

How can you be sure that something is true just because you believe it if you know that you are human and capable of error.

Truth is in the eye of the beholder.

Neither. It is illogical to believe that something is true based on a feeling I have about it. Sadly, this even includes "true" love (which can turn to hate) but of course we don't wish to look at love in that manner. All the emotional fervor in the world cannot authenticate a belief. The only thing that can, is if it can be scientifically proven ( by measurements or whatever) to be a fact. Then I will say "I believe it." Like so much else in our lives the rest is just hope, smoke, and mirrors. Which we humans cling to fiercely of course, because so far its all we've got.

Truth exists and it is knowable, even though I may not want to believe it or accept it. Truth matters. Truth is what conforms to the way things really are.

Something that is true for one person but not true for another is not a truth; it is a preference. Truth also deals with more than simple facts; facts may be true, but "true truth", as the apologist Francis Schaeffer called it, deals with ultimate reality, which is found in in the God of the Bible.

I believe it because it has to be true or my foundation of faith will be undone like a doggie sweater on the run

I would hope that you believe it because it is true. Truth does not change regardless of what moral relativism would like us to believe.

I believe in God because He's real...whether you choose to believe or not. Denying His existence won't make Him stop existing and doesn't mean you are exempt from His teachings.

If it's true, it's true whether you believe it or not.

It's not or, it's and. The two are two aspects of a many dimensioned puzzle.
