I disagree
Poor little african girls carrying water.
Kids get a free education in most western countries, i dont think its much to ask that they carry a few books. Get your kid a rolly back pack.

Every year this is always an issue. I remember being back in middle school and using a locker. Lockers are always available and some kids just don't use them, sothat's their problem. Also, middle school and books have been around for a long time, children have been carrying books for awhile now and each year, they turn out just fine. If their backpack is too heavy, take out a book or two and carry it. If you feel your carrying too many books and for some reason wont/can't use a locker, then ask some of your teachers if you can leave your book inthe classroom. It's not the books that are the problem, its the kids. THey keep getting lazier and lazier...

I agree with you, I think the locker only solves part of the issue. The real problem is when the kid has to carry all the books home for homework and then back to school again. I think that a good solution is to have a copy of the book at home, or photocopy the pages needed for homework. I understand that some of those books get heavy, especially for math and history. A good backpack is made by L.L. Bean, it's extremely durable, spacious, and if it breaks in anyway you can return it for a free replacement.

If the school is sending books home for your child to use for homework, then there is a good reason why your child is carrying books home on a few days in the month . However, if the lessons in the classroom require a textbook and your child's school has enough textbooks for every child enrolled in the classrooms to have a book in school AND one at home, then there is no earthly reason why your child should be carrying a heavy book all day, every day. It is not advisable for any person to be carrying heavy objects up and down stairs because elevators and other types of machinery were invented to serve that purpose.
While teaching, my students were not allowed to take books home because of a severe book shortage in the classrooms of the public school system. If chalkboards, smartboards, overhead projectors or copy machines were available, homework could be copied by the student inside the classroom, the school library or the student resource center before leaving school. Talk to your child's school administration about this problem.

Does your child have a locker? This is becoming an issue in some schools because they did away with lockers and kids have to carry everything. And it isn't healthy to carry that much weight all the time. If she does have a locker then she needs to use it. Plan out the day where she only has to carry half the load.

And at home, she needs to work on strengthening exercises, especially the core. Pilates is great for that. Hope it gets better.

im in middle school and its not that bad. but my school doesnt have stairs and u must have a mesh backpack so cant have a roller backpack. we have lockers and i go when ever i can. if my backpack gets too heavy i carry some books in my hands and some other kids do this too. i only have these books to carry: 2 english class books and a binder, a science book and notebook, a math book and a binder, and a world histoy book and binder. plus a few more things that i need for pe like my tennis shoes.

yea, i had some back pain at the beginning of the year but i go used to carry that much weight on my back. the pain goes away later in the year.

They do have backpacks with wheels on them. Besides, if she gets 3 locker breaks a day shes only carrying 2 or 3 books at a time. If she wears her backpack with the straps adjusted properly, she shouldn't have a problem with that.

You need to read those books instead of just carrying them. I am surprised you are 13 with grammar like that. My daughter in in middle school and she uses a locker for the majority of her books, taking only what she needs for each class. I do not think you will get anywhere in complaining to the school.

at the school my daughter goes to they have time in between classes to go to their lockers so they're not carrying all their books...and after school i pick her up so she's not having to walk home carrying her books...

~*~ edit ~*~
why is she carrying her dance clothes with her? and a usb stick..omg those 2 things alone weigh about 3 lbs total...honestly i think if you go and complain your just gonna look as whiny as your child...the principal shouldn't make a exception for your child for extra locker time...i'm pretty sure she has about 5 mins during passing time to get to her locker and to her next class...if not tell her to plan better...oh yea Welcome to Middle school..it doesn't get any better when they hit high school

Lord of the flies. on no account might we've study Clique or Twilight. those books have not got any literature high quality. Yeah we;ve additionally study watership down, the hobbit, large expectancies, the dante club, dantes inferno, in chilly blood.
