I understand the first question you asked:
"Christians, what is the point of The Bible?"
It is a simple, good and basic kind of question. The point of the Bible is to tell us that God is trustworthy. You trust Him and you then have peace with Him. Those who trusted God in the Bible had better things happen to them than the people who didn't- they either got the good things here, or they got them after they died.
The second question is not very clear to me:
"if you believe that you can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be guided by the Holy Spirit, why do you need other people to choose and outline the guidelines of that relationship?"
Do you mean the church? If you do then realize that there are all levels of knowledge within the church. Christians commonly have many questions about the Bible that they do not know. These questions typically run into various issues of life- marriage, relationships, ethics, morality, etc. And God has gifts that He gives to certain people to deal with these problems:
11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4)
So just because all people see only people doing things on the Earth, God is very active with them in the background- the casual onlooker not seeing that part of the relationship- unless they look closer at those people. Because if you look closely at the people who are practicing the gifts they were given, you will find another flawed, sometimes weak person who is typically in no other way remarkable who excels in some part of the ministry.
So other people who do these things are necessary- God seeing to it that the gifts are given, "so that the body of Christ may be built up."

How else will you know Jesus Christ unless he talks to you? This was his way of talking to every person who ever wanted to hear his voice in the world. Yes he can speak to us individually through the Holy Ghost. However that is a still small voice which we must be in tune with to hear. Some people wish to ignore that voice but still wish to hear the lords voice, that is where the scriptures come in. Those were his chosen servants who wrote the Bible and for the most part they used his own words not their own. All you should have to do to confirm this to your self is to pray with a sincere heart asking the lord if in the whole the Bible is his work and words to us. Now we know some things may have been changed and through translation a few verses may have had there meaning changed yet in the whole the word of God comes through very well and the Bible can be considered a true book of God.

Because the guidance of the Holy Spirit is through the Bible
2 Peter 1:20-21 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
>>>
Per the second part of your question, those spiritual people who think that they have some type of direct revelation from the Holy Spirit are all different, right? In otherwords, no two people are "told" by the Holy Spirit the same way.... this is why many people look on those who are spiritual as "wacky", since we all say that God speaks to us, but He seems to say something completely different to each of us. However, if He only speaks through the Bible (look at Hebrews 1:1-2, or Jude 3 for that statement), then in fact He has spoken to all of us the same way. It is superior manner of communication since no one can say they have a personal, private communication with God. That seems to be Peter's point in the passage at the top.

Good question, there is not one answer to this but here are some things you might want to think further about:
1. The Bible quite rightly says that it is foolish to compare ourselves amongst ourselves. That we should seek the wisdom of God not the wisdom of man.
2. God will use a variety of ways to speak to us and sometimes other people, circumstances and situations, particularly if we are being a little 'hard of hearing'.
3. God expects us to share, fellowship and to be part of the body of Christ. We do this by encouraging one another, teaching one another etc. God gives each of us gifts that we are meant to use as parts of the body of Christ. Unity in Christ is our strength. So while we are each responcible for our own direct and personal relationship with God, we are also called together to be part of the body of Christ. Also we share a common enemy in Satan. We need each others support from time to time.
4. It has been my personal experience and that of others that by far, God's preferred means of communicating with us is through His word, the Bible. There are various reasons why He would prefer to use His word:
a) First and foremost Jesus is the Word of God. The pages of the Bible are actually the substance of Jesus. He is reveal to those who would believe through these words.
b) We develop a fuller understanding of His general will through the scriptures.
c) We learn to have and exercise faith through His word. We can not please Him without faith.

How would we have ever known about Jesus if for a couple thousand years there was nothing to be said? He sent his apostles out to teach and educate people about Him to show them the right Way to go. They wrote it down with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Then it took many years for the cannonical councils to decide also by the guidance of the Spirit what was to be put into the Bible and what was to be left out. We all have the Holy Sprit within us but we need to feed our Spirit and grow in love and faith. Otherwise the devil finds deceitful ways to misguide people from the right path to God's Kingdom.

The question sounds very simplistic. It would be similar to asking why do we need a civil engineering text book? Can't I just learn civil engineering by personal trial and error? The Bible contains experiences, knowledge and evidence about Christianity and can teach us through the experiences of others. It contains knowledge about God and Jesus Christ as experienced by others. It is a "textbook" if you will, about God.

youre going to die one day... so why even bother reading it... its just another book i like to think and thats what i will always think no matter what(because so im sure so many bibles have been rewritten in certain section some how). but the bible is a good book for the weak so i cant say its totally worthless. Science surpasses what the bible says of life in every way so far and if i were to read the bible, it would have to be the very first bible created, if possible.

The point of the Bible is to ensure that everyone gets the oppurtunity to know of God and his Eternal Son Jesus. True, we are guided by the Holy Spirit, but we wouldn't have known that without the Bible. We wouldn't know that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be available to us for our uplifting and teaching of the true knowledge of Christ.
The Bible is a testament to God and his Son.
