Why are some Christians Racist and Homophobic?
I've seen plenty of programs where Christian speakers have condemned coloured people and Gay people, one person (who had many supporters) even refered to a black person as "someone God had left in the oven too long"

Now if God created everything blah blah blah then why are black people seen like this? And if he has given everyone their own choice because he loves us so much then why is being gay seen as wrong when it's there choice?

This is not just a 'Christian question' it's a question for us all.

I am guessing FEAR is the answer.

Any Christian that hates cant really say that they REALLY love God...... ALL people are created by God for a purpose; the Muslims, gay people, different colored skin, etc......

Some of these people live a life that is not in line with Biblical teaching...............but we are not to hate the person.

Jesus sat with thieves, prostitutes and other criminals.....He didn't hate them..........but I am guessing He did hate what they were doing.

Why are some non-Christians racist and homophobic? People are people and all people make mistakes. You simply cannot look at one group of people who hate others and call themselves Christians to validate their behaviors and classify the whole group. I'm a Christian and I have friends who are homosexuals and I truly love them. I have friends who are black, hispanic, muslim, whatever. I know that God made each of us and I can find something in anyone to love. Anyone who hides behind Christianity and spouts hatred and violence is a liar and not a Christian. Don't place your whole belief system in God on the flaws in some men, often the two have never met. I know people who have sat in a church their entire lives and don't live as Christians and I can honestly say that sitting in a church will not turn you into a Christian anymore than sitting in a garage will turn you into a car. It is the relationship that counts.

Some Christians are racist and homophobic for the same reason some Muslims are, or for the same reason some Hindi are, or some Buddhists are, or some whites or some Hispanics or some Asians or some.... well, you get my drift. There are all kinds in all walks of life, and no matter what religion (if any) you profess, we are all still human and prone to stupid, hurtful, ignorant mistakes.

Why are some atheists racist and homophobic (not homophonic)?

There are people from ALL walks of life that show prejudice. I am white, but I do not consider skin color to mean anything. But I DO know some black people who are VERY prejudiced against white people. Reverse prejudice, I think it's called, but they are always accusing (for no legitimate reason whatsoever) of people showing partiality or favoritism against them.

I've seen them act in a way that ANY body who acted that way would get kicked out of a store, and yet when they act that way and they ARE kicked out, they scream "PREJUDICE!", when it's simply their anti-social conduct that is in question, not the color of their skin!

As far as homosexuals are concerned, I am not afraid of homosexuals. I don't think they're going to gang up on me in some dark alley. But I DO think it's wrong. I believe the Bible (both Old as well as New Testaments) say that this is contrary to God's design and purpose for us. Am I afraid of them? No. Do I hate them? No. Do I think they are wrong? Yes.

I don't know which "programs" you're referring to in your question, but I would be interested in some specifics, because we must ALL stand against this kind of racial prejudice. It's flat out wrong!

Its easy to point the finger at racist hatemongers especially if they claim to be Christians. If they claim to be Christians then they are clearly not following the teachings of Christ. God loves everyone, no matter what their color.

Christianity doesn't condemn people. We condemn ourselves by our own actions. Yes, everyone has a choice and what you do with that choice affects how you view others and yourself.

There is no excuse for denigrating black people due to the color of their skin. The Bible clearly states that God "hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth" (Acts 17:26), and "that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him." (Acts 10:34-35), by "repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21).

The color of one's skin does not make one immoral, however, homosexual activity is a behavior, and not one that is predetermined from birth. Nor even if it were would that excuse an behavior that God prohibits, as we are all born with a proclivity to sin which does not justify our acting it out (Gn. 4:7)..

That men lying with men as with women is sin is clear: http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/IsHomosexualitySin.html

As is the fact that is is deleterious to both individual and society: http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/RevealingStatistics.html

But it is also very clear that some of the first Christians were former homosexuals, but who repented to Jesus and were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (12Cor. 6:9-11) - being "born again" - and so they followed Jesus in holy living.

Praise be to God for "so great salvation!"

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that being black is a sin, but it does condemn homosexuality.

By the way, the term homophobic is a misnomer. Phobia means "fear of". You can believe that homosexuality is wrong without being afraid of homosexuals. You can also believe that they are wrong without hating them.

Homophonic means one sound. I don't think we sound the same. In fact, we sound very different from each other being individuals.
