I know that some are very critical of proselytizing. But Jesus commandment is to make disciples of all nations. Disciples of Jesus Christ, the Word of God.

So, how is converting people from the error of his ways different than proselytizing?

Let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death & shall hide a multitude of sins (James4:20).

True, but the apostles were also commanded to spread the word, and of those towns that rejected the word, to shake the dust of their sandals and forget about the place. In truth, we can talk, but if the word is not heard, there's no use beating your head against a wall.

As believers, we go into all the world with the gospel, as we do so, we can never be certain in advance what the reaction will be to the good news of the gospel.

As we sow the seeds of the good news, should it be met with mocking and hardened contempt, over time the disciple must become keenly aware when it is time to move on to a more receptive environment and not cast our pearls before swine.

False prophets and evengelist do not heed this warning but attempt to make disciples of their own false gospels at any cost, hence, Jesus said to these false evangelists:

"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves." - Matthew 23:15 KJV.

Well, given that Jesus was Jewish, by your logic perhaps I should be trying to convert you to Judaism?

But you'll never find Jews proselytizing, because it's forbidden in our religion. It's a big shame that your faith doesn't also show the same respect for those of other belief systems.

Instead, you are patronising. You have every right to believe in Christianity, but you DON'T have the right to try and convince me to also believe. Shame on you.

Oh, and you might like to recall that Jesus never turned his back on Judaism; any challenges he voiced would have simply reformed some practises. Jesus died a Jew when he was crucified by the Romans.

Paul, the founder of your religion, NEVER EVEN MET JESUS.

Jesus was actually very selective on who he recruited. Really Jesus was only interested in Jews and people identified with the tribes of Israel (such as the Samaritans and converts). Of the thousands he converted they were all that way, even though there were plenty of Greeks and gentiles about.

In Matthew he says "I am not sent except unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Where he says preach to 'all nations' he clearly means Jews in all nations.

So unless you are Jewish you probably shouldn't be teaching Christianity. It was never meant for you.

all religions command that their followers spread the accepted belief or philosophy of their faith.

the next time you decide to proselytize for yours, just remember how hard the terrorists are trying do the same, or how much you enjoy getting those early morning visits from Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses...

maybe then you will understand how annoying it is to deal with these modern day self-appointed missionaries.

Both are the same if one does it with love. Because GOD is love and the sacred heart of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is with unfathomable love, boundless compassion and mercy. Moreover, it is not the person who converts and called to repentance a person but THE LORD GOD, HIMSELF. Thus, anything we do for that matter we do it for the interest and glory of THE LORD GOD and HIS honor, thanksgiving, fear, love and worship. Then we are on the right path. But converting and calling a person to repentance is not done by our direct efforts to the convert but through our prayers of mercy and love. On one hand, if a person is under the hold of satan, the servant of GOD inorder to free that person must sacrifice through fasting for 2 days without water. If a person is merely hardened fast for one day without food. Then and only then that we can say to the Master JESUS CHRIST, We are unprofitable servants we have done what was our duty to do. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD, LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.
