they do sell aniaml repellent to keep cats and dogs away.but beleive it or not cat poop just like any poop is good for the grass.Lowes or tractor supply sell this stuff and make sure you read it good if you have kids or other animals it might hurt them and you can be sued if a child gets it so you can get a small dog since cat poop is 30% digested it's still food and a dog will eat it with no harm to both

I've noticed that cats like longer grass to poop in. They won't use it if it's cut short, so a simple mowing of the lawn may stop it.
Are you sure it's a cat? Raccoons and possums also leave piles behind and they smell pretty bad.
A cat usually won't poop within 40 feet of a water bowl, you could put a bowl of water out.

Try putting something that makes lots of noise in the back yard. Most cats dont like loud noises and will try to stay away.
But just incase you get one that doesnt mind loud noises go to www.stopcats.com and get their "Stop Cats" repelants spray. It is biodegradeable and if you have children its safe and wont harm them.

Well cats hate the scent of pepper of any kind and fruit! In a spray bottle, put half water and 4 tablespoons of cyene pepper,,, shake it up and then spray the ground ~~~ once they get that on their paws it burns and their eyes as well. its harmless but its effective ~~ once or twice of this and they wont come back.... I use this on RACOONS and it works

They sell cat repellent at pet stores...but you will have to re-spray it any time it rains. It really works, I had a stray cat that kept peeing in my garage.

hi . you could try using lemon grass essential oil on the spot where it leaves its calling card but i am afraid ferals tend very much to do their own thing where and when they want to.I dont know for why but even tame cats seem to poop anywhere but their own garden maybe it is because generally they are very clean animals so doing it in their back yard would make it dirty .

I had a feral cat in my yard.He was using the soft dirt for his potty spot in front garden(under eves(sp) of house.I put moth balls down.I never saw him again.BTW, don't use moth balls where they will melt into the ground and kill your plants.
