I get diarrhea a lot. I don't know why. I'm a college kid, just turned 20 a few days ago. it seems there is no one week that goes by that i don't have diarrhea at least 3 times. its been this way for a while. i poop alot. everyone i live with all make sure to note that i poop alot more than the common person. i don't know why. it's sometimes frustrating to go on long trips back home from college and stuff because i'll have to stop a few times just to poop. i keep taking immodium, sometimes ahead of the time, and that works for about a day. alot of the times once the immodium wears off, im in for a full day of the runs. (by a full day i mean sitting on the can about 6-8 times). so i dunno. immodium works but not that greatly. i was wondering what else to do? should i see if a doc will prescribe a med for it? i eat healthy and i exercise more than a couch potato... but i'm lost.

Well first and foremost there are many contributing factors that causes the occurrence of Diarrhea (Drh). But first let us look at Drh, Drh is a condition in which the person suffer from frequent bowel movements either watery, and at some time with blood. Basically having Drh is a good mechanism of the body, for it tries to remove the toxins you have ingested. Drh may be cause by infections, allergies, food borne illnesses, food intolerances and the like. Drh is a just a common way of the body to get rid of foreign material that comes in it. It may not sound alarming at first, but severe Drh can cause death due to severe dehydration. Having Drh should not be stop such as using antidiarrheal drugs (immodium) for again we are trying to remove the toxins in the body not poison the body with the toxins you have. Now, as i've said i will ago you might have an infection. Do you have any history of such? cholera, dysentery? or any if not then maybe it is in your diet? what kind of food you eat, try to observe the food you eat by means taking the same food for a week, if it doesn't cause you any harm then it is good for you, however if it does trigger Drh then stop. Another is the food they try to serve you again its a matter of cleanliness, you must be certain that the resto, or canteen were you eat is clean. As a last word of advice stop taking immodium, instead try to seek the help of a doctor to prescribe you with the right medications for you. Hope the information helps.

I know you said you eat healthy but something you are eating can cause this. Keep a food diary and you might be able to catch what is bothering your stomach. For me dairy and red meat are no-no's.

If you have been using Immodium for a long time I would suggest seeing a doctor. Too much use of that is not a good thing for the bowels.
