You're stomach muscles part and move to the side to allow room for the baby. It takes approximately a year to recover from pregnancy and birth. Exercise will help you get you're muscles back in condition, just depends on how fit you were previously and how you were in pregnancy when to start.

Well for a start your pelvis is pushed further apart. The bumpy tummy is just extra fat that we produce to keep our baby warm and safe. It also probably goes back to our cave man days, to store extra food for birth and help produce milk, but I like the idea of it keeping our babies warm and safe better, :0 Breast feeding breaks this down and gets rid of it quickly.
