You have heard incorrectly. Jesus didn't like hypocracy in religious leaders or in people who claimed to worship God. He als didn't like religious leaders creating a heavy burden for the people who were trying to serve God by adding to the commandments of God with their traditions and edicts.

Because its tanglible, people can see it, the Christian can see it and feel they are done something to show what they beleive.
What you should discern is (a) that there is a geniune moral transformation that does (or at least should happen) to the true Christian convert (Eph 4v28), and (b) those who use the bible/chuch/other Christian stuff as an outward cloak for their actions.
Jesus saw these type of people a mile away; Pharasees, lawyers, teachers etc who were the leaders of society and would equate to the Arch-Bishops, Popes, doctors etc - What Jesus was saying is that all of the outside of you in your actions, talk, long-flowing robes etc, count for nothing because you are still corrupt inside (Luke 12)
We see that today with these horrible stories of the Sunday school teacher who corrupts children, preachers who sleep with the church secretary, deacons caught with rent-boys etc, and all just use clever-double-speak to excuse it all. What rubbish!
Trust me, there will be MANY who call themselves Christian (easy thing to say), and will be in for a big shock! Matt 7v23
Hope this helps
(PS: how about dropping me a line - you've added me to your contacts and you seem like you've got your head screwed on straight - promise - I dont bite & I've had my shots!)

His teachings have been twisted and distorted so badly by organized religion throughout the centuries that it's almost impossible to know what to believe. I believe that the bible has also been largely distorted by early politico-religious leaders who were power hungry and only wanted to rule the masses through fear-based living. And boy, did they succeed!
You might benefit from studying A Course in Miracles, which is a text dictated by Jesus to clarify his meaning in coming to earth originally. It is enlightening and speaks primarily of living a love-based, as opposed to a fear-based life, which the majority of the world are living now. Another excellent book, similar in concept to A Course in Miracles but written in more modern style is Conversations with God. This series literally changed my entire perspective on God and life and I am SO grateful to be freed of the many fears that were instilled in me by religion during my childhood. It gave me hope that life can actually be joyful.
Good luck in your search!

I do not believe that Jesus, did not like Religion, the only thing he disliked was the way people would not believe that God existed,so he would get Angry to the crowd that was always curious,to know more of what he was preaching, about the many Religions that are around us, anyone can pretend to be preaching the word of God, but some of those so-called Religions are only faking what they are preaching. The only way you can acquire salvation, is in accepting Jesus Christ as your personal saviour, in one of his sermons Jesus said"Nobody comes to my Father, but through me." Do I have to say more?

I believe that a lot of christians have not understood Christ or His message. I mean, I believe that God will save all men. Yes everycody in the end though some may have to go through judgments and 'hells' which are a direct consequence of sin. By 'Hell' i mean of some sort of seperation with God and not a torture chamber of any sort. But 'Hell' is certainly not any rosy place or 'feeling'.
Fear has accounted for 'religion'. I mean people follow religion not because they love God but rather most of the time is because of they are afraid of the consequences or want to 'attain something'. We all fall short in this aspect in many ways.
Nevertheless, we must follow God with the reason of Love; Yes, all you need to do is fall in love with God. I dont know how that happens, but it I belive everyone will finally return to God in that way one day, be it while living in earth itself or somewhere in the spiritual world. When this happens, one will then finally reach their destiny and return to God.

Jesus did not like religion in the sense that what He created would be fragmented. Christ created only one Church which exists today , just as He promised, in the Catholic Church. His last prayer in the garden before His arrest was that we all be one. This was His prayer for unity and being one. Can we be in His will if we reject the Church created by Him? Certainly not, but should instead pray for one Church in unity and not division.
Christ create His Church to be a beacon of light to the world and created it as the ark where all can come from the sins of the world. He said that His Church is the "bulwark and ground of the truth", that the "Gates of hell" would not prevail against His Church and that His Church would be the enduring Church for all time. No other Church has these promises nor was any other Church created by Christ. All others are created by man. Which has more veracity, a man made church or the one Church created by Christ?
In Christ

That's a great question.
My opinion is that it has to do with the judgmentality associated with the me-them delusion coupled with the desire to transfer responsibility to a replacement mommy-daddy. There may even be research on the topic. I just haven't pursued it. Many theologians are not religious. That would be a good place to start.

What Jesus didn't like was HYPOCRISY. He spoke rudely to the religious leaders of His day (the Pharisees) because they looked down their self-righteous noses in judgement at everyone else, but were the worst sinners of all.
For example, there was an occassion when a poor widow could only put two small coins of little value into the temple treasury, and they stood around in their beautiful clothes looking down on her. Jesus said that she gave more than they did because she gave out of her need while they gave out of their surplus. So she was commended for her self-sacrifice, while they were condemned for their judgemental and unsacrificing attitudes.
Jesus did not like hypocrisy in any form and he was famous for saying things like, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" or saying that we should worry about the plank in our own eye before attempting to extract the speck from someone else's.
It was Jesus closest apostles, Peter, James, and John and the apostle that he appeared to after his ascension, Paul, that established the first century church. Jesus Himself had sent them out with a commission to preach the gospel and to baptize those who would accept it. The church itself is called the body of Christ in Scripture.
But the Apostle James tells us what true religion was always meant to be--not looking down on others who you don't think are up to par, but just the opposite: being undefiled before God, visiting widows and orphans, and keeping oneself without spot from the world (James 1:27)

I'm not religious. I go to a non denominational church. A New Testament church. Religion is man made rituals, rules & regulations. Some religious people are holier than thou and pious and do what they tell others not to do. That is against everything that Jesus stood for.
