Will the Ford Fusion be a success in terms of sales as the Ford Taurus?

You have to remember that the Taurus was not a success in terms of consumers purchasing this vehicle. Approximately 70% of the Taurus' sales were by businesses or fleet sales not the general public like you or I. Ford offered big business some "hefty" discounts for multiple automobiles. Take away the large, business, fleet purchases and the Taurus was no where near the Japanese automobiles in individual consumer purchases.

Ford Fusion has a much better design than the Taurus. Its European looks, great handling, etc. will bring the individual buyer. Ford has come a long way in very little time to improve on design and maintenance. More and more big businesses are purchasing other makes and models now and because of this the Fusion probably will not show the same numbers as the Taurus.

I bought a fusion and really like it. It handels nice. It is a good design. Any car gets old when left on the market for so long with no dramtic change. In 86 when the taurus came out it was like wow.
Times have changed and the taurus turned into a fleet car or rental car.

Jose, I'd have purchased one long ago to replace my Mercury Sable but some moron engineer decided to put the ignition key set ****** downward in the steering column.
Being a 6' 4" person when I drop the non-telescoping steering wheel down the friggin key plunges into my knee. The center console prevents me form getting to hell out of the way.
I'm waiting for the new Chevy Malibu

Will it rain next thursday? a lot of what you want to know is going to depend on the popularity of that vehicle. the dependability and what the consumer thinks of it. I would think it will do fairly well in the selling market but right now that is only my speculation.
