I am one of Jehovahs witnesses and alot of people have these questions and the Bible states that the end will come like a thief in the night. So nobody knows the exact date or hour in which it is coming not even the son (Jesus Christ) on his father Jehovah God knows. Matthew 24: 3-7 says.....

3 While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

These paragraphs are what we are expereincing today! Here is a link to the offical website of Jehovahs witnesses and i've linked an article to it called " Armageddon - A Catastrophic end?

As a muslim, in Islam we are taught that the end of the world is only knowledge God has.. We are not to dwell on it.. But, having said this.. Many people asked our prophet what are the signs of the world ending.. He gave many, some have already come to pass and some not yet.. So in essense, the world is on its downward hill side already..
one that really hits home is its said that time will speed up.. and it seems so.. It seems everything in life is going at a fast pace.. Remember when I was little, the lazy summer days just dragged on, well now, it seems I blink and its already a new day and I didnt know where the time went.. An hour for lunch doesnt seem like a lot of time now. its amazing.
there will be an upsurge of major natural disasters, ie: earthquakes, floods, etc
there will be war in almost all the world, so many will die
Jesus will return, fight the anti-christ, then marry, have children and live a long happy normal life and die a normal death.
the sun will rise from the west (the scientists talk now about the earth shifting or flipping on its axis)
rulers will be ignorant
there will be a great fire from the west also....
lies will seem like truth, and truth like lies
everyone will become so wealthy that money will be thrown away, it wont mean much, so dont get excited about this one.
parents will anquish about their children who wont respect the elders anymore, they will rule their parents.
there are thousands of major and minor signs..
you can google signs of the end of the world for more..

The end of the world, as we know it , is by the bible(Daniel), 2010. This will be preceded by 3 1/2 years of troubles.

The Myan people have an ancient prophacy, as well. They put the end of civilization, as we know it in 2012. This will be followed by a period of regeneration of the earth, and the re-establishment of the rule of nature.

An ancient Chineese prophacy says that the end of the world will come when they have become rulers of world trade.

The Aztecs just put it in the 21st century.

The ancient Inca stories tell of the meeting of the crystal skulls. When all 13 of the skulls come together the world will end. The whereabouts of 12 of the skulls is known to the indians by the 13th is unacounted for.

Conclusion:- quite soon.

In about 5 billion years or so the Sun will run out of fuel. When this happens the core will collapse and the outer layer will be temporarily blown off and it will expand. This expansion will stop somewhere around the orbit of the Earth. Rather or not it engulfs the Earth, it will certainly be the end of the Earth as we know it. Then the Sun will shrink down and cool leaving whatever is left of the Solar System in the dark.

The Lord touches on this in Matthew Ch. 24
We see a lot of prophesy being fulfilled and we know that the end is near. After the rapture, there will be a 7 year period of great tribulation during which a huge % of the world's population will be wiped out. The New testament will reveal it all to you. God bless!

No one knows the day or hour that God will appear and say "It's over". That's why we must guard our spiritual self very closely and be ready for that day

Matthew 24:36-37 -

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."

when the sun has dried up all the water, when there is no stores of water, like icebergs, I would strart to be concerned for the folowing millenia. Its a long time away though and will probably have found self healing methods by then

No one knows. God didn't tell even to any of His Prophets and Messengers.

End of world for each individual is the day he/she dies. We should think more about end of world but do good thinking may be today is my last day, may be I will get killed today on my way to work by an accident. I don't mean to scare you and start thinking about your death all the times.

The bible talks about the end of the age not world and it will be at a time when the gospel has been spreed all over the word, and it will be 70 years after the rebirth of Israel, and it will be at the time of the next pope.

Just a thought, but the Mayans thought they'd be around for the end and they won't be, at least not as a civilization. This would indicate that they were not very good prophets.
