I’d have to say that I dont believe in atheists.
to follow atheism to its logical conclusion leads to either, self refutation and no longer being an atheist, or to nihilism, which is more problematic than trying to be an atheist, quite obviously. it is also impossible to completely obliterate recognition in a higher power. show me any civilization or people group in all of history and the world who was truly atheistic. mankind NEEDS a higher power to cope with life. and they cannot find one then they will make one up.
People who have problems with Christianity usually have problems with Christians. not Christianity in its TRUE intended form. they usually read a few lame books and a few scriptures and think they “found the discrepencies” in the bible. without really knowing what they are talking about they discredit the whole shabang and claim intellectual superiority over Christianity. but then the bible says that they wont understand. the spirit grants understanding

and stop trying to force their limited understanding to understand something out of their grasp, they will never find peace in Christianity. pride will be in the way and will block the final piece to the puzzle. once pride is out of the equation then truth will appear and peace will be found and peace to the questions will be attained. not always answers to the questions, but peace in the questions.
the greatest single cause of non-belief is Christians who are too immature to realize the weight of their responsibility and the scope of their commitment. but also to the lack of understanding of the non-believing world in the basic principles of forgiveness and depravity. not everybody can be a mature Christian because there are new Christians who cannot be expected to live the way they ought. and if that is the argument against Christianity then it can be turned to EVERY other possible belief system in the world. including agnosticism and ESPECIALLY atheism.

The question is that I would like your thoughts on this blog that I read this morning. I don't see it as that difficult of a question. Goddamn, some of you people are dense.

I lost my interest on the very first sentence. There's nothing to believe in atheists - they exist. And not in the circumstantial, non-evident "because my holy book said so" kind of way, but in the very real "I can punch your face to prove it" kind of way.
What follows is, unsurprisingly, a lot of "because my holy book said so" blathering - surprisingly built around one observation that is largely correct:
While not every man needs a higher power - trust me -,mankind at large certainly does. The alternative is coping with the fact that you're entirely insignificant in a near-endless universe except in so far as your own deeds make you seem so to your own conscience. And that's not something the average human being would be good at.
The conclusion - or what is supposed to pass for one - that apparently, Christianity is the one true correct answer to what has effectively been established to be a need that stems from the weak human psychology, is, well...
Let the author be religious. He certainly needs it. He may also need a good psychologist, or a prominent position in the US Christian Right.

I'd say that the person writing this has never talked to a representative sample of atheists. It starts with an assertion that is not supported by evidence, either real life statistics or logical proofs. This assertion is followed by another stating that it is "impossible to completely..." which is obviously untrue. Granted men have been making up gods for the last 30,000 years, but this doesn't mean that man "needs" a higher power to cope.
I've never heard an atheists say that the primary reason for not believing in a god was the people that believe in the god. The primary reasons deal with lack of evidence that any god exists and that "holy books" are full of contradictions, mistakes and also are not supported by evidence.
In war and politics, one must know their enemy, but this is a classical christian "rant" about atheists that shows they have no clue whatsoever about atheists.
Edit:
My thought is many christians, like this one, are more than happy to believe what they are taught by the church rather than verifying that it is true, in this case it applies to atheists. This is classical christian "knowledge" about atheists but has no foundation in reality - it's similar to assuming/teaching that atheists are an organized religion and have an agenda.

ok, here is my thought... i think it is funny that you say if they "cannot find one then they will make one up" then you go on at length about Christianity and the bible. How is Christianity any different than a made up god? You can't prove that Christianity is fact.
And I don't think that mankind NEEDS a higher power to cope with life. I think a lot of people do, but certainly not everyone. Atheists dont say they don't believe in god because they are smarter, or because they wanna be "cool" or anything else. They simply don't believe in god. It is that simple. Lance Armstrong is an athiest and look at him!
You question really bothers me, that's just what I think...

I'd have to agree with all of it except the first part. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a God or gods/goddesses, it doesn't mean that a person can't believe in ANYTHING.
And it's true that there has never been an atheistic society. If religion is obliterated, people will invent one. The fact is, some people just have that thirst for God. Some atheists call it needing a crutch...I don't think so.
It is also true that many atheists haven't even really TRIED to understand the Bible or Christianity. They read the Bible in order to see the "inconsistencies" or "contradictions," not to see if there's any truth in it.
I hope this doesn't offend anybody. It isn't meant to. I used to be an atheist, and I did exactly the same things the atheists here do.
As a matter of fact, one of the things that cemented my atheism was when I handed my youth group leader a list of over 500 questions I had about Christianity. Many of them were philosophical issues I had with Christianity, but just as many were scientific, as well as inconsistencies I had found in the Bible. He was unable to answer even ONE of my questions. He took it to the other church pastors, and THEY couldn't answer any of them. Each of them did speak to me privately and told me to "just have faith" though. That seemed to be the stock answer of all Christians. Just have faith.
So now I'm here, seeing if there are any atheists who are like me. And you know, most of you are.

Arius, replaced into only between the numerous, coaching countless varieties of Christianity. Montanius is yet another who replaced into quickly enormous previously him., previously likewise being shown incorrect in his teachings. There have continually been, and regrettably continually would be, some around coaching their "very own" version and information of God and His appropriate teachings. this is the reason however if like countless Christians Constantine had his faults, he additionally did a great activity in getting the then churches mutually to "thrash out" the place they had undemanding floor and to settle needless to say for all time, what the authentic Church of God stood for and did not stand for. And at a similar time as by no potential by myself in his one -sided view of God it replaced into needless to say printed via Constantine's council of Church leaders (& not Constantine himself) as not what Jesus taught. As for the Bible in immediately's type not being around then. It replaced into yet not in an entire or settled type and so as quickly as lower back because of the fact there have been countless writings around then claiming to be the actual element, a real record of the Books that have been the two written via apostles or via people who were with the apostles, replaced into finally formalized as finished. lower back as an help against fake instructors and teachings.

"stop trying to force their limited understanding to understand something out of their grasp, they will never find peace in Christianity. pride will be in the way and will block the final piece to the puzzle. once pride is out of the equation then truth will appear." This is nail on the head stuff, pride and vain glory are the anti-believers biggest obstacles,it's very obvious nearly all of them share this quality. They refuse to take it seriously because they think that would mean changing who they are, this is an incorrect assumption.I was also concerned about that because I basically liked myself as I was,and was prepared to burn first before I would change WHO I was.I already considered myself a good person. But when I began down the path I discovered I wasn't as "good" as I I had always thought, pride had prevented me from seeing this. What I found though was not loss of self but an vast improvement of who I already was,and peace.I wish for others what I have found. And it is so easy, just surrender.

The blog is pure, unadulterated gibberish.
Atheism is not self-refuting at all. The writing is full of unwarranted assumptions, assuming this and that are impossible - arguments from personal ignorance and special pleading.
The author might as well argue that refusal to believe in the tooth fairy will cause me cavities, I'd be just as impressed.
**PAULO down there is an example of their 'understanding' - You have it backwards, friend - its 'if it doesn't exist, we don't believe in it' - You might also want to dwell on the fact that things which are real don't really require any 'belief'.**

it seems to me that this person does need a higher power to (cope with life)-i am truly sorry for him-as for the logic that when a person cant cope they then make up a higher power i agree with him-dont think that is what he meant to say but that is what he did---kind of defeats the purpose of his rant i guess but i wouldnt be looking for logic from a person who is making this type of statement----enjoy the day

I don't believe there is a higher power or god as you call it.
Not believing in god isn't going to cause self refutation, nor is it going to make me believe in god.
I think the blog sounds ignorant and is just another attempt to bash atheists.
