The story is that one or two (and certainly not all!) muslim medical students are refusing to examine female patients as part of their courses because they say that it conflicts with their religious principles and so they are failing their courses.
I don't see how they can be doctors unless they know how to treat more than 50% of the population and that students generally shouldn't apply to do a course funded by UK taxpayers unless their principles allow them to complete the course as per the sylabus that they see before they apply. It's a shame for these students as they are trying to behave in a moral way, but if they can't complete the course, then they'll just have to take a degree in another subject.

The Supermarket thing is stupid! I work in a cinema. I wouldn't work on the bar because as a Salvation Army person, I too, cannot drink alchohol. However, my boss, who is Muslim, told me this was not a sufficient excuse. He used to be the manager of a cinema in Bradford and said if all his staff (prodominetly muslim) had refused to work on bar, they would have had to close the cinema. I work on the bar now with no trouble, as he made a fair point. I don't like it, but I do it.

A doctor is a doctor what ever religion he is practicing. He has to help any human due to his oath. I never heard about such thing that a Muslim doctor is not treating women. I am living in an Islamic country and I'm a woman and I get the best care from male doctors..............

not only in U.K. but around the world, that muslim doctors won't treat a patient of the opposite sex if there are other doctors of the same sex available,bc it's the rule in islam that one should not view the nakedness of the opposite sex unless they are their spouses.
But in emergencies,or no same sex doctor-patient is available, muslim doctors would treat anyone, whatever religion, friend or foe, free or with payments, humans or animals, in hospitals or wilderness.
about the medical interns who refused to treat diseases related with sexual infections or intoxicant use are a bit extreme. I know no laws about its limits. What i know is when a person in the middle east is accused with crimes against morality, they rarely get muslim defense lawyers to stand for their trials cuz it's like tolerating that crime or sin and would affect their credibility in their society and become sinners themselves.

I believe most Mulims doctors around the world have no problem in treating women. Most Muslem scholars have no problem, & most Muslims people have no problem.
If "some" Muslim doctors in the UK made a problem, then most likely they are follow of the extrimist Abu Hamza Almasri

HERE is the link, people:

That's an article in the Guardian (UK newspaper) yesterday about Muslim doctors refusing to treat alcohol or sexually related medical problems for religious reasons. Some said they wouldn't treat women at all.
It also emerged a week ago that Muslim workers at a British supermarket called Sainsburys were allowed to refuse to serve alcohol for religious reasons. This is what enrages me about religion, if they think it's wrong to drink, that's great - they don't have to buy any - but how dare they refuse to sell it to someone else? In a secular country! Enough is enough. Let's not be tolerant of intolerance.
I find it all disgusting. The doctors who refuse to do everything required of them should be booted straight out of medical school and workers who are unable to do their job because of their beliefs should be sacked. If they can't integrate they should go to some Islamic country.

I don't know who is issuing these fatwas to Muslim Doctors but I do know it is against medical ethics to refuse a patient on the bases of sex, race or religion.

Because they're fools who aren't competent about the religion they claim to practice. According to scholars' opinions a Muslim doctor can treat anyone and everyone for the purpose of healing (duh, right?). He's taken an oath to heal the sick and dying and in so doing he is to remain professional at all times. Now if he is getting aroused because he has to perform a pelvic exam then he needs to check his intentions! Islam is a lot about intention. He may want to help the person but if he's having other thoughts then he needs to excuse himself and remember what he's there for. I'm sure male docs may experience this from time to time (it's natural) but they are not there to get it on with the patient, ya know? Anyway... my 2 cents!

You want to make your question appear that Muslim doctors in UK are already doing it. The fact is, the news you are referring to make mention of MEDICAL STUDENTS NOT of UK DOCTORS!!! And the fact that the board of Muslim Doctors condemned such act is a true statement that what you are asking is never true.
Muslim doctors in UK, like in USA are treating patients regardless of religion, sex, and nationality. They are doing their jobs properly. And here you are asking a question as if the act is a fact for Muslim doctors in the UK.
Did you ever try to read the news item? It seems you haven't read the news at all.
To answer your question, it is not true that Muslim doctors refuse to treat women.
If the male doctors can treat women under the Taliban rule, why would they not treat women under the democracy of Britain?

Is it that some Muslim doctors won't treat Muslim women who aren't properly dressed? i.e. Meaning they aren't wearing their burkhas (or however it's spelt, sorry if that's wrong)? These doctors should be struck off and sent back to their country of origin. Next they'll be refusing to treat anyone who isn't Muslim at all.
