It just goes to show there's intolerance in all groups/religions/lack of religion. PEOPLE are intolerant, that's all there is to it.

For the same reason that Christians or any other group are intolerant. Human nature. Immaturity. Why would you want to joke and "poke fun" at unbelievers? These are people who God loves, and who Jesus died for, and their choice whether to believe or not -- their eternal life -- is not a joking matter to the heart of God.
