Ok 8th October 1934 is important. Because the law for women to join the elections have been voted positively.
And Since December 5 1934 women can vote and elect in Turkey.
So don't let anyone take any of your roghts from you. You deserve being free.

Mmm. No, I don't remember. Enlighten us.
Edit: And we have chosen only a handful of women during all those 73 years? And the sole female prime minister is Tansu Ãiller? Shame on us. Doubly for Tansu Ãiller. :P
I say, if women are 50% of the population and if the gentlemen in politics find it unnecessary to impose a female PMs quota, a Women's Party must be founded to support women's rights. If we can have a Green Party, why not a Women Party? In all societies, women's advancement means the advancement of the society.

Tarihte böÄün :)
1908 - Tatil-i EÅgal law bans strikes and lockouts
1925 - The leaders of jewish and armenian minorities have declared their will to void the clauses protecting the rights of minorities of the Lausanne Peace Agreement and to live as fellow turks in the turkish society. (Trolls? What do you say to this?)
1951 - First Mediterannean games are over. Turkey gets 8x gold medal in freestyle wrestling with their team of champions.
EDIT: I am really curious now...

I don't care why it's important for Turkey, but it certainly is importand here. It's my wife's birthday :)
p.s. years ago Ataturk 'gave' Turkish women suffragate (the right to vote and be elected). Unfortunately, Turkish women have not exercised this right to the full. They are still waiting for men to give them an opportunity to climb up the ladder in politics. Wake up women! You have to fight for it. don't expect men to 'give' you anything. There was just one Ataturk.
