Sounds like he's in excellent shape for his age. Tell him that with Medicare and the supplement that is now required--there is a very small co-pay to go to the Dr. Since you mentioned arthritis, sometimes caused by drinking not enough water, which leaves eyes dry as well--get him some NATURAL TEARS eye drops. Ask him if his eyes are grainy feeling--he may be reading or watching too much TV. Anyway, it 's not like it would cost much and wouldn't he like to see clearly again.even if his legs don't work right to drive because of the arthritis. Tell him, he's talking $20 (it may be $30 for a specialist) and you'll pay it--just to make sure it's not pink eye if nothing else--leave that off, as a farmer he'd know if it was pinkeye. Remind him, He may live another 10-15 years maybe, and wouldn't he rather see those years instead of being blind. And, for the peace of mind of his family--do it for your peace of mind so you can stop worrying about him. Good luck.

Mostly it is a descriptive piece of a conversation between two people. I find it genuine and beautiful, just because it derives from your soul, and I am aware that it is among your very first poems. I believe you felt the urge to co-exist with what took place between you two, so you report upon it in full detail, It is fresh and soft, it portrays a character tender (you) and another somehow indifferent (him). Obviously the 2 of you, live in different worlds. I believe you deserve something more real, and closer to your values and standards. Thank you!

No wonder he never went back to the butchers.
I'm with your dad. Treatments offered are not meant to cure but to be ongoing and profitable.
I have no idea how much influence you can have over your dad or how willing he'd be to make changes.
I suspect his refusal to see a doctor is based on fear. I can't say I think it's a bad thing. They are about sickness, not health.
Sorry to hear he is taking asprin. Surely he has never suffered from a lack of it. ALL drugs are toxic and the liver must be functioning to clear them. The more you take the more clogged the system becomes. When it can't clear toxins out any more they load up in the body.
His arthritis may respond well to dietary omissions. I'l list things that aggravate arthritis.
All preservatives and food additives--this pretty much means all in packages.
Being a farmer he's likely a meat eater. Too bad as it's a major source of toxins. Organic is better but still meat is high on food chain, therefore poisons are more concentrated.
Other things are white flour which is intestine gumming, and white sugar, an immune system suppressant and it lacks necessary b vitamins, which if not available will be taken from heart muscles weakening them.
Also citrus, all nightshades: potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes and peppers. Tobaccos is one also.
I cut all of these when my hip hurt so badly I woke crying in the night. Prior to that I'd be so stiff after sitting a long time also. All pain and stiffness was gone in three days--5 years ago. Stiffness only returns now, and some hip pain, IF I don't drink water and it disappears very quickly. Synovial fluid in the joints MUST BE hydrated. And hydration is necesarry for all body functions. (Dr Batman...)
I now eat most of these things again--avoiding flour and refined sugar-- BUT I drink LOTS of water, one ounce for every two ounces of body weight and I use some salt-sea salt. And I use no tea, coffee, alchol or soft drinks. For the volume of any and all of these consumed one needs to drink an addional 1.5 ounces of water as they are dehydrating.
A word of caution. The kidneys MUST be working well. One can tell if one drinks and does not pee, they are not. Cranberry juice, raw and fresh can help. Cleansing, many commerical ones available, should help. There are various herbs one can use.
Apple and parsely juice are supposed to be good. Lemon water also and dandilion.
'Doctor's Home Cure for Arthritis,' though I don't like the methods much, it's OLD, has joint x-rays--not good for you either--showing reversal of swollen joints and regeneration of cushions between joints. I absolutely believe reversal of this condition is possible.
Eyes? Exercise certainly may help. We don't look for this sort of information as billions and billions of dollars are spent in advertising and lobbying to convince us there's nothing we can do. LIES!
Dr Bates. opthamologist and professor, in the 3os, improved vision for countless people, which is not profit enhancing--for eye examiners, surgeons or glasses dispensers, not to mention blind institutes and device sellers-- and he was not popular.
The library should have many books on improving eyesight naturally. If you can't find any there I'll send you a list.
Do You Really Need Glasses? Is one. The author recounts story of her first patient who'd had 5 surgeries, 'for' glaucoma and cataracts. I think she had severe arthritis, or something crippling and I think overweight. She was also BLIND and 80ish. Though the writer thought she was a hopeless case, the woman faithfully did exercises, which she enjoyed, and within months was able to read headlines and write letters with a crayon. The author corrected three of her eye own problems, astigmatism, lazy eye and far sightedness, I think, and said she was still fine 40 years later.
There is a most excellent video, may be available at the library, and certainly on-line called Yoga For Your Eyes. Man who did demonstrated how he used Dr Bates methods, all VERY simple using mostly hands and eyes. He went from born legally blind to getting his driver's licence with NO corrective lenses.
My aunt of 90 some was told by her doctor he'd never said she had cataracts. He DID but they were gone. She'd done eye exercises. Now she has glaucoma and is also very anxious. I think more eyee exercises and omega three oil for her. Another thing is letting go of past hurts and resentments and forgiveness according to Louise Hay who says glaucoma is about emotional pressure. It is pressure from fluid buildup.
Vitamin A is very important for vision. If dad would drink fresh whole juices, notably carrots, he could improve his nutrition a great deal. Books on juicing, like by the Juiceman, typically will mention what vegetables are of particularly useful for a given condition. I think all are loaded with antioxidants to limit free radical damage.
Fresh juices may not taste very good at first, season to taste until they taste good on their own. Experiment with different types of produce. Never mix vegetables and fruit. ENJOY. A great juicer is a CHAMPION. Worth the two or three hundred it costs. Frozen fruits make GREAT smooth 'ice cream.'
Unfortunately, the Champion will not juice wheat grass, which one can grow themselves. Quite horrible tasting, I think, but highly nutritious and cancer-killing. Red clover is useful in cancer and chaparal. There are teas called Essiac and another called Sir Jason Winters said to kill cancer also and in the US it is ILLEGAL not to offer or insist on chemo and radiation. A woman was recently jailed for not submitting her son for these treatments EVEN though, or maybe because, her son's melanoma was healed through natural means.
Cancer is an industry and a racket. Fear is used to sell the barbaric immune damaging 'treatments.' See Dr Day, Cancer Doesn't Scare Me Anymore.'
Vita mix professes to be a superior juicer and wasteless, but our bodies don't need THAT much fiber and juice is an excellent source of nutrition. The vita mix is a powerful blender and masticator, not juicer. Can't eat bags of carrots but one can juice a bag and drink the juice pretty quickly benefiting from the nutrients.
Cancer can't develop in a body which isn't acidic. Meat, most grains, cooked fruits, and sugar are acid forming. Generally, millet and buckwheat, vegetables and RAW fruits are alkaline forming.
While healing at least, one ought to use a diet of about 80% alkaline forming foods and combine properly--no fruits and vegetables together and no concentrated meats and proteins together, like meat and potatoes (you said dad was a farmer? oops) This slows digestion and burdens the system more.
Specifically I don't know about red rimmed eyes. Worth looking up on the net.
Alzheimers. I'm so very sorry. It's become so common. There is a little known book called 'Beating Elzheimers' by Tom Warren. Warren says 'if you still have 15 minutes of lucid thought,' and it sounds like your mom DOES, 'it's not too late.'
My mom had it and we didn't know much. Her sisters have it and their caregivers DON'T listen. This, as other diseases we are taught to think is inevitable, is the result of a non-functioning system and can be corrected. Warren refers to numerous sources he used to get well again.
If your dad is your mom's caregiver, even if someone else is doing it, this is most burdensome and he IS under enormous pressure. This disorder is devastating for families, particuarly if their hands are tied by beliefs that this is inevitable and nothing you can do. NOT TRUE.
For information on general health, how to regain and maintain it, please do see Dr Day, Diseases Don't Just Happen, available on google. She is a medical doctor and cancer survior, now heretic, and is focused on health. Her videos or DVDs may also be available at libraries.
One last thought is a book called Fountain of Youth which contains 5 easy daily exercises, said to be from ancient Tibet, for reversing aging and restoring health. There's a short video too.
Your parents, regardless of changes they are willing to make, need loving support from you and your siblings and to feel they have done a great job and it sounds like they have. Do remember the power of touch. If an untouching family, even a pat on the hand is better than nothing. Hand holding better. We all find comfort in that. Shoulder rubs great--that reminds me reflexology also. There are many great sources. Touch when you can. Very healing. All my best to you all. I wish you all ever-improving good health. Love and aupport one another.
