I know Frontline is a safe product but it's for kittens 8 weeks and older. I read online that someone just reduced the dosage by only putting on a few drops. Do you think this is safe? Anyone know any better solutions? Help my baby! Thanks guys ;)

please note: I'm a [very poor] student, so the reason for me asking online is to see if anyone has had a similar experience or knows a better solution. Obviously, I'll take him to the vet if absolutely necessary, but I'd prefer to avoid it..he was a stray so I figure a poor owner is better than dying in the cold. Thanks for all responses though, guys!

Frontline Spot-on can only be used for 8 weeks or older, but Frontline SPRAY can be used from 2 days of age, so get some of that. You do need to go to a vets to get it, but you shouldn't need to take the kittens. Frontline spray is the ONLY product safe enough for young kittens and pups that actually works. Sure you can do something like bath in dish soap, but it won't make the fleas go away, the kittens will just get reinfested.
Don't just use a small amount of the drops - if you're lucky you won't overdose, but you'll probably just underdose and then it won't work. Get the spray, one application lasts a month and there are a few applications worth in a bottle.

I have 2 six week old kittens and I spoke with the vet regarding a flea issue. I was told that you can use a spray but you must spray it on a towel and then wipe the kitten with it so that they don't have too much on their fur and lick it off. She also told me that just picking them off (not the most fun job in the world!) does help until they are old enough to be washed in flea soap.
I have also heard rumors about baby wipes with aloe being useful but, I have not tried that myself.
I am probably going to go the picking route until they are old enough for a flea bath myself.

my 1 week old kitten has fleas too, flea combs only get rid of approx 15% of fleas though. i gave the house a good hoover and clean...dipped her in plain warm water in the bath beacuse this drowns the fleas and then used the flea comb for extra procortions, then put flea drops on her neck...i havnt found any more and she isnt scratchin now so i think it worked. you need to know that each flea lays around 200 eggs, so make suree you hoover and clean every corner. i used flea powder for carpets nd soft furnishings. left it on the carpets for an hour and hoovered it up t so whatever is there died. hope this helps!

my daughter found a kitten and just bathed it in flea shampoo.
when it was about 2 months old she asked me to take it. I had the vet check it out and he said the shampoo did a good job, although when it does come of age to give it the frontline.
just bath the kitty 2 weekly with the flea shampoo until you can buy the other stuff.

Nothing but flea powder on a kitten. Common deal with small kittens.

You can give the kittens SOME relief by sprinkling them all over with baby talcum powder to inhibit the fleas.

I would consult your vet first. Even a few drops could harm a kitten. It depends. Just call and ask your vet first.
