Just say

"Nan, people have said that we look alike, what did you look like when you were around my age"

Why would it be rude? I did that with all of my grandparents, and I got some fabulous photos of them. They had a life before they were my granny and papa, and I wanted to know what that was. I scrapbook, so I have a heritage album made for my daughter. It's wonderful to see the old photos, and my granny was quite a dish back in her younger days!

I don't know why she would be?? I have a couple, however I had to go through my mother because my grandmother was already gone. And I don't have any of me fathers mother.
It grandparents like to pass on there past. It is what they do. And when get the picture, ask how old were you her, or what was it like when you were this age.

Nope. Grand parents are usually very receptive to their grand children and will be happy to oblige. However, instead of asking her for HER pictures, I suggest asking: May I borrow your pictures to copy and I'll return your originals when I'm done? That usually works best.

You should ask to sit down with her and look at her pictures. I'm sure she would love to take the time to show you them, it gives you the opportunity to learn some of your family history and perhaps she will give you one.

Do it before it is too late.

No just ask her, grandparents especially grandmothers love it when their grandkids ask about their pasts and want to relive memories with them, so asking for a photo of her would be a thrill to her. Go and ask, you'd be surprised how awesome you will feel once she beams with joy

tell her that you need it for a schoolproject you can make copies and return the originals back to her as old people are afraid that it might get lost it is the link to the past so it is dear to them.tell her you make sure nothin will happen to her pictures and they will be returned safely tell her that time has been fair to her as she still looks beautiful.

She might be delighted. Why don't you ask to look through her photos with her, and then ask if you could get a copy made of a particular on that you really like. That way, you avoid causing offense and will please her.
