I would say, use some clippers! Although I have no bush in my garden (of love) when I did have I used the clippers that my hubby bought for his whole-head cut - you know the sort? He starts off with his beard then simply goes all the way round his head in every direction!

Pruning shears, they leave a nice clean cut, and you can take
your time and look, for a ways off to make sure its rounded and even.

do the hedge shiere( looks like a big scissors), we usually use it for cutting big bushes.
