I have manx kitties and siamese kitties and let me tell you they both are great breeds. My manx kitties are like little purring dogs though and SMART! I would definately say go for it.
P.S. Of course they can wear collars! :)
I had to comment on the person above me, spinabifida is a concern with the rumpies, however they are born with this and you know well before adulthood. The rumpies are prone to other issues too though and if you get one make sure it has been checked over by a vet first. That being said, mine are rumpies and are healthy....

Can't really answer that. Tabby is a coat pattern, not a breed like a Manx, and there aren't really any behaviours associated with coat patterns. I've had several tabbies who have been very affectionate but I don't think it was because of their pattern. Manx, on the other hand, may have personalities particular to the breed. But I think how you treat the cat has more to with whether it's affectionate or not though many cats don't get affectionate until they're a few years old.

the manx is a very sturdy breed, depending on the type of manx. there are 3. try to avoid the "rumpy" manx, the ones no tell tale signs of a tail as they can suffer from spina bifida later in life. spina bifida is incomplete enclosure of the spine. aside from that the "bumpy" manx would be a good choice or even rarer would be the full tailed manx,,,,good luck in your search.

i have a 1 year old female stumpy manx and shes the most adorable cat ever. they are very smart cats--and mine is stubborn! she knows you're calling her and she'll just look at you and come over when she feels like it.
all tailed manx are prone to arthritis in their tails so make sure you talk to the vet about possible amputation if they think its a possibility.

That's a great idea if you can afford to spend enough time and money on them. Be sure to choose the right ones, though. All cats have different personalities, even the "pure" breeds.

If a cat doesn't have a tail, that's like half a cat!
I would never have one; it's not right.
