Being homosexual is not a choice,it is genetic.
Anybody who doubts that should ask themselves when they decided to be heterosexual.

Coming out is a very difficult and painful process for many Christians. Many churches teach that homosexuality if sinful and that homosexuals go to hell. In order to deal with this cognitive dissonance you either have to accept God's unconditional love and live the best life you can or you can leave your Church and join a more accepting one or simply abandon religion altogether.
Since gay people know they can't change or "choose to be straight" they have to resolve their religious crises in other ways.
I have left the RC Church at different points in my life. But I always come back eventually, especially since the Lord Jesus has adamantly insisted that I remain, not for the Church's sake, but because HE loves me and wants me to remain in HIS church. If HE accepts me, why would I give any credence to those who say I am evil, etc. Frankly, the opinion of others about my sexuality is none of my business.

The problem lies in our sex-saturated, I want it 'cause it feels good society.
Your question can just as easily be asked about straight people- why would they choose to go against their religion and have pre-marital sex?
The answer is because people don't feel there are things giving up sex for- sex is seen as the ultimate good. It is treated and sought out like a drug. Like all drugs, it can be put to good use, but abused will destroy the lives of those who abuse it.
The right to have sex belongs exclusively to a man and woman married to each other.
If someone calls themself Catholic it doesn't make them a Catholic. I can call a car a grapefruit and it will still be a car.

It is because being gay is not a choice nor is being a Catholic.
They are both deeply embedded aspects of character. I do not hold that they are genetic but that does not stop them being so deep as to have no aspect of choice. It is as fundamental as you believing that 2+2=4. Now that can change if evidence and experience is put in front of you and you assimilate that as your own. BUT until then they are inflexible aspects of self.

Catholics believe in the transformational power of God's grace, which is exactly what any sinner needs to overcome homosexuality or any other type of sin.
Anyone who blatantly proclaims their homosexuality in an effort to enlist support for their sin has no business being in any Christian church, as there is no doubt as to the seriously disordered nature, and to the inherent sinfulness of all homosexual acts.
But someone who, in the spirit of contrition and repentence, continues to struggle with their sins in the hope of overcoming them, will find no better place to be than the Cathiolic church.
This applies equally to all sinners, whether gay or straight.

The Bible is very clear on these matter of sexual conduct , and also the fact that God cannot , and will not support those that practice these vile things.
Obviously then , any Church that says that God does accept it , is following the desires and standards of man , and not the truth according to the Bible - Gods word.
Therefore if they are not following God , this would mean that they are actually following Satan , who in the Garden of Eden , initiated the idea of 'do as you please its all OK.'
The fact is that its not 'all OK'.
Religions that support this course of life and the individuals involved are not backed by God , in fact they are destined for destruction at the coming great day of Armageddon with all of the other people that do not really serve the Almighty God - Jehovah.

Logic would lead most people to look at your question and consider that being gay or lesbian may not be anymore of a choice than being heterosexual.

being Gay is not a choice. it's genetic....dna. they have opinions like any other Christian. they did not chose to go against any religion. closed-minded religious zealots have made the choice to go against them...by allowing themselves not Christ to judge, their existence. in the final hour ... you will be judged on your behavior. good luck to you, in the name of God.
