I enlarged the picture and noticed that its mouth had a u shape sort of like a smile, and the cat is most of the time all the time happy unless you put it near water. I never thought cats smile so I dont know why its mouth is u shape while it is happy.

I tried putting her in a car once and she was really unhappy so i havnt done that since, and she is always happy except for when I tried to show her some fish and she got scared of the water.

No it was unlike the Russian Blue whos eyes only look just content and not happy it was more u-shaped near the nose unlike the Russian Blues who look like it was a naturally all the time mouth or lip position.

Her eyes looked very happy in the picture, and the last time she seen the Vet the Vet wrote down that she was a happy cat.

It was from a front angle and not a side angle and normlally I dont notice her mouth because her fur is black and blends in with her mouth but in the picture unlike the last picture of the blue cat images somebody sent where it looks like its frowing its actually a u-shape from a frontal shot and not an angle shot.

This is a trait of certain breeds of cats, that they appear to be smiling. The Russian Blue is one example. (Take a look at the middle 2 pictures):

Your friend's cat may have some Russian Blue in him. I'm sure it also sometimes shows up in the regular cat population too.

My cat is always happy too but unfortunately does not smile.

It's not perfect, but I think that it flows beautifully. The spelling and grammar is also very good. My only concern is the fact that she is jealous of her best friend- it's becoming such a cliche in YA novels for people to be jealous of their best friends. I've seen it a million times. Other than that, the idea of the main character's father giving her the camera at a young age and her taking pictures ever since then is believable and sweet. I don't know what it's about, but I do like it a lot.

From the side angle, yes it looks like a cat is smiling. Some cats do, in fact. Although signs of happiness in a cat comes from their tail, eyes, or ears. If they are happy, their tails are up and curl towards thier back.

Yes I notice that all the time, that cats curl the corners of their mouths up in a smile when they're happy, just like anyone else. If you scratch their ears or play a game with them, they will smile.

Why a thumbs down for this innocent answer? That seems pretty harsh.

Cats don't smile the way a dog will, but from certain angles they can look that way. They usually signal satisfaction and pleasure with their ears and tail.

I had a cat that actually posed for pictures and she did smile, when she was mad she had a scowl too and when she was trying to make me jealous, she would actually do the whole smirk look (Half close her eyes and have one of those S*$@ eating grins)
