The truth is, we are all killing our selves slowly through the lives we lead. Wether we smoke, drink, eat fatty foods, or just plain live dangerous lives. It's just that some prefer to do it quicker!
As for god judging us on our actions in life, remember that more than one PERSON wrote the bible. And if god really wanted to judge us on the decisions we make, then surely he would be partly to blame for giving us the intelligence to make the decision in the first place. I mean, would you give a child a loaded gun, and then when they shot themselves, say it was their fault because they pulled the trigger?
NO, is the answer to your question. I don't think it's a sin. I think is a shame that that person wasn't able to find a reason to live on. Or that those around them were not able to reach out and help them find a reason for living. But I don't believe we go to hell or anything for choosing that route.
I believe god loves everyone! No mear mortal can be without sin. It's impossible.
If you want an explanation of why maybe and note the word maybe here, that person may not go to the supposed heaven. I think it's more likely that when you die naturally, (if there is such a thing, as I've already stated 99% of us die of the effects of how we live our lives, cancer, heart attack etc etc.) they die relatively untroubled, they've made peace with themselves. Where as those who commit suicide, died without that peace. And maybe they just wonder among us, because they haven't found that peace yet. They aren't ready to move on to where they are supposed to go.

No I don't believe it is a sin - I think that when you die your spirit goes somewhere to heal and get over what you did and understand and learn about why you did it - whether you are mentally ill or not. I don't believe that it is a straight to hell card at all. Some people just need more help in things and when you become a spirit I don't think that is any different.
I also don't believe it is ever the "way out" because you still have to come to terms with things - just on the other side of life instead of here.

Why do you need more? Don't you think the "whole Thou shalt not kill thing" pretty much covers it. I'd say it's not a far stretch to say that mean you killing you is included. So...suicide IS mentioned in the Bible. And pretty CLEARLY at that.
Now - as to the destination; i.e. heaven or hell, for the person's spirit who commits suicide. Neither you nor I nor any one person on this planet can judge the final destination for any one soul. What we DO know is God is the judge. What we also know is that the blood of Jesus atones for all sin once and for all. And those who believe that Jesus, the Son of the Living God, died willingly on a cross, and rose from the dead, proving the absolute fact of victory over death itself, know that we receive the gift of grace through our faith...and that be that. End of story. We are Christians. And we have not the spirit of fear, but a sound mind. For anyone else...it simply remains thusly. God is the judge. We leave it to Him. Only God knows the heart of a man. We are here to witness, to testify, to tell of His goodness and His grace, His love and His mercy. And we pray -- that you too, and all your friends and loved ones, will also believe and receive that free gift of God. The Bible tells us that He has given every man a measure of faith. Romans 12:3 It's up to you to ask for Him to increase your faith. He will. He loves you beyond anything you could ever imagine or think.

Suicide. Self Murder. Sin - Big Time. But I think that this type of sin quite often involves mitigating factors. I just don't believe all who commit suicide automatically go to Hell. The God of the Bible is a God of compassion as well as justice.

When someone commits suicide, they are in such a place mentally that they feel they can no longer continue to live their life. Now I am not religious but I do appreciate how fragile the human brain can be and for someone to actually kill themselves, in my opinion, is not a case of right or wrong in religious or non-religious terms. You could say that anyone who commits suicide is mentally unwell as they are not in a 'normal' mental state of mind.
As Christians, surely you should pray for them and the loved ones they have left behind?

Well, mental illness is a whole different topic. People who are mentally ill usually are highly medicated and they are not always in a proper state of mind (even with the drugs).
I do not believe it to be an unforgivable sin. Everyone will die with some sin that they have yet to repent of.

The Bible never mentions suicide in a negative light. Suicide is not the same as murder.

It's a sin against god, but one does not go to Hell for it. They enter the Left Door, and are reincarnated immediately, no time between lives.

That people who commit suicide go to hell is a lie. Hell properly translated means grave, and grave only. Paul says in corinthians, that as in Adam ALL die, even so in Christ shall ALL be made alive. Christ's sacrifice was perfect and it extends to all. He came to save all,and He will. If He did not, than He is a faliure, but what He sets out to do,He does. For He is not a faliure, but in all ways perfect,Willing that now perish but that All come to repetance.
