No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means. --George Bernard Shaw
The Holy Book of the living God suffers more from its exponents today than from its opponents. -Leonard Ravenhill
The Bible is a book that has been read more and examined less than any book that ever existed. --Thomas Paine
Most people are bothered by those passages of Scripture they do not understand, but the passages that bother me are those I do understand. --Mark Twain
If you believe that exposing your children to violence is a problem, by all means keep them away from the Bible. --Rev. Charles Henderson
The Old Testament, as everyone who has looked into it is aware, drips with blood; there is, indeed, no more bloody chronicle in all the literature of the world. --Henry L. Mencken
When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said "Let us pray." We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had our land. -- Desmond Tutu
The Bible and the Church have been the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of women's emancipation. --Elizabeth Cady Stanton
The Bible itself is intolerant, and true followers of God's word should be as well.-- Bob Jones III, president of Bob Jones University
The Christian community continues to exist because the conclusions of the critical study of the Bible are largely withheld from them. --Hans Conzelmann
The Catholics have a Pope. Protestants laugh at them, and yet the Pope is capable of intellectual advancement. In addition to this, the Pope is mortal, and the church cannot be afflicted with the same idiot forever. The Protestants have a book for their Pope. The book cannot advance. Year after year, and century after century, the book remains as ignorant as ever. --Robert Ingersoll
The New Testament authors did not customarily refer to their written record as the Word of God. That subsequent Christian tradition tends to do this while the writers themselves hesitate to do it should tell us something. Evidently they distinguished the difference between the living, infinite Word and the written record more clearly than we do. If the written record is every called the Word, it is the Word only in a secondary, derivative or relational sense. It is not the Word in the absolute sense. --Robert D. Brinsmead

From what I have seen Islam is growing at a faster rate than any other religion, though Christian religion is still the worlds largest. This is in part due to the fact that they reproduce more. I know that sounds kind of tacky but it is one of the main reasons. That was the reason Catholicism was able to spread so quickly. Also this is due to nations where unless you are Muslim, you are a second or third class citizen. That means more people will be converting if they live in say Lebanon or Saudi Arabia than if they lived in the U.S. England, Canada, and other nations with much more religious freedoms. So Islam is the fastest growing religion at this time. The thing is one has to look into the reasons. It is not that more people believe in Islam, but are under conditions that would make their lives harder or even cause them death if they were not. Also one can not over look the rate at which Muslims are having children. In some of the Islamic nations a man may have say 4 wives. That means there is a very good chance that at lest one of the 4 would be pregnant almost all the time for a number of years. So if the average couple has 2 children in their lifetime the Islamic family will have 8, or more. So that adds to the numbers when calculating who fast a religion is growing. What would be a good study is to take a look at nations where freedom of religion is allowed and look only at the people who have converted to that religion in the last say 10 years. Then you would get a better estimate of how many new converts a religion was getting and see if one is growing from a more spiritual means, as opposed to political and social influences. That would be an interesting study! Wow wish I had a degree in statistics and some grant money to try that study out. Anyway, Islam is at this time the religion on the increase, but like I said you have to look at all the factors that go along with anything like that, I mean show me one study saying one thing and I will show you another saying the opposite. That's just how statistics and polls are. Hope that helped. =)

Both religion are increasing either through family lines or through their missionary works. The Islam is converting through fear motivation. You join or you will be an outcast and die. Christianity is coverting through intelligent faith based in an accomplished fact. There is life after death through actual demonstration by Christ Himself by resurrecting from the dead after being nailed in the cross, buried in the tomb for three (3) days. So Christians are ready to die in order to live and are ready to live in order to die. Muslims are ready to die for their religion because they are religious fanatics.

Both are growing, for now Christian is ahead.
Don't listen to research for it can be bias. Some donkeys will be so stubborn that they will also go to the extend quoting what people says and accept them blindly without checking their motive in making statement. People do abuse their creditability for gains or to support their ideology.

In many parts of the World people are forced to become Islamic. Imagine being in Iran and saying, "I think I'd like to be Protestant".
