If you are a cop, I would like you to answer this. You might not think you guys do, but I have witnessed cops putting on their lights to run redlights and then turning them off so they can get acrossed the street faster. I have seen them SPEED without going to a call. We as citizens who do not work the police force, would sometimes like to bust police with tickets for not obeying the law as well. Yeh, congress enforces laws, but the cops don't necessarily obey them either. The people who get caught are the ones that don't work that type of field and are generally the innocent as well. I'm not saying that the citizens are all perfect and don't need fines. I believe that we ALL should obey the laws even if we are cops, firemen, etc.

One of the answers asked how do I know that they aren't enroute. Good question, however when they are coming from a different town (where most likely they live) and speeding and passing you by while going the speed limit. Yeh, I think they are late for work and in a hurry to get there with abusing the rules of a patrol car. Where I am talking about is an approximately 20 miles from one town to the other. I have also sped up to see how fast they are truly going. which is usually 5-15 mph over the speed limit.

Although most of the cops maybe answering and in a matter of speaking could be correct. I have called to see if the deputy in the car was responding to a call. I also want to add that I am not referring to All cops, but to the ones that abuse their power. Also , to the ones that are cops answering my questions, please also answer the question about the pepperspraying a child of 2. I would really like your thoughts on that.

Who was that discerning person who once said that "cops are law enforcers and law breakers in one person"? It sure looks more true than false!

Because cops are terrorists and the U.S. Govt secretly supports terrorism. Without cops independent private security firms would profit without the need for traffic citation quotas, full jail numbers and 99% conviction rate. One thing that would probably address the most of the police problems would be for cops to get mental exams as a prerequisite for being hired as an officer. The more that the cops act like bullies a and insane thugs, the less that people respect the law. In short police have took a big dump on America and wiped their rear ends with you rights. Most of them nowadays are so very sick individuals. I was scared to call the cops before when I actually did need help because I didn't want to have a bad experience and to just be another +1 arrest point for the bastards. It's pretty clear that most cops could care less about guilty or innocence. The sad part is that these courts play right along with the "Hero" cowboy cop. Police brutality and corruption is a sick fetish of many courts.

Hopefully I can help you out here... I speed and run red lights because I can. There is nothing you can do about it and I will always get away with it. It makes me want to do it more now that I have seen how upset you are about it. Stop being a little wimp and stfu. If I respond to a call with someone like you, I hope I get to beat the snot out of you. If I say you were resisting, guess what? I have all the more right to smack you around. So! Bend over and take it like a good little citizen. I am the law! Respect my authority.

And they got away with murdering a homeless man named Kelly Thomas. They even got the beating on film. I am a firefighter and even I try to avoid Police when I can. I never broke the law but I am still afraid of them.

The cops are out of control. If you watch Cops on TV almost any criminal can out drive a cop. They can't even shot and hit a bad guy at point blank range. They very seldom catch a criminal. It usually a tip from a citizen that finally leads to the arrest. When they have the bad guy.(.I love it when they say the bad guy it's so Roy Rogers.) on the ground. Thy keep yelling "stop resisting" so they can keep hitting the guy. Lay on you stomach have a friend sit on your back. Now try and put your arms behind your back so you can be handcuffed.

My first question would be, How would you possibly know if a police officer is going to a call or not? I have many times been enroute to a call that didnt warrant a code response, but needed a rapid response, only to be almost there and have the call cancelled. You would have no knowledge as to where the call is, or if an officer was enroute to a call or not. Please don't assume that we are speeding merely to get across a street faster, we are paid by the hour, and there is no reason for us to get anywhere faster, unless we are going to a call. Ask yourself, If you had called 911, do you want me to stop at every red light on the way to your home, or do you want me there as fast as possible. Perhaps, everyone else wants me there faster too.Maybe you should do a ride along, I'm sure you would have a much different outlook after you spend a shift with us..

I think the media and society helps increase that poor image of cops when they get caught doing something that may seem illegal if you don't understand the "whole" situation. The cops are beating a guy with a baton it's police brutality but what you don't know is that same guy had just kicked the livivng snot out of his girl friend, was on PCP and was trying to kill a cop. Still, it's the cops fault for doing their job.
Cops turn on their lights to blow through intersections and then turn them off after wards is probably because they're going to a call that does not require lights and sirens but they want to get there with some sense of urgency. Next time you get robbed or someone steals your car, make sure you tell the cops to take their time to come help you out.
Unless you are the one that's wearing the uniform and badge and have the mind set of why cops do what they do, common citizens will never understand.
Not all cops are ******* and break laws yet everyone labels them that way. They're doing a job that's far more complex then you'll ever understand but somehow it's so easy to point fingers when they screw up or didn't perform to your standards. They are humans too and until you're working in a profession were you're trying to help people who don't like you and have to deal with the worst people on earth that no wants to deal with I would stop complaining.
Best friend is a cop and tells me story's everyday.

I agree, everyone should obey the law.
Having said that, you are only guessing about what the officers are doing. You can't know which cops are on the way to a call and which aren't, you can't know WHY a cop turned on his lights to cross the intersection.
When I'm on duty, it's the city's time. I don't care how long it takes me to get there somewhere if it's not important and work related. I get paid the same sitting at a light as I do running it.

You're letting your anti-cop bias get to you. You have no idea where cops are going, what they're doing, or where they're en-route to, but you assume they're breaking laws. Yet, you believe people that are being pulled over are "generally the innocent" without knowing what they've being stopped for.
Don't blame the cops for the 2 year old being sprayed, he has no choice but to operate under the conditions that he's in. Blame the person who put the 2 year old in that position.
