I think one of the best colors for dark blues and navy's are the tan and beige shades. You will find dark blues and beiges being used in historical and traditional as well as modern style homes and decor.
One of the most popular shades of beige throughout the country is called "Kilm Beige" which is sold at Sherwin Williams. However, any paint or hardware store can replicate this or any other major brand color with their brand formulas and computers.
I would stay away from pure whites when having darker furniture so as to avoid the furnishings from looking cold and harsh. Deep blues are consistent favorites in furniture for good reason but should be visually softened by beige or yellow tones which will still be neutral enough for you to choose any other complimentary colors you choose.

How dark blue? Dark looks good with dark, like burgundy. Hardwood floors would look nice with that with an off white ceiling. Goldenrod also would provide strong enough hue to balance dark blue (I'm thinking deep saphire is your couch).
Stormy grey could give you the monochromatic theme you are comfortable with, at the same time balancing out the dark blue.
I also recommend not to have only one color, but 2, about 3 shades apart on the same color pallet. Use a Wooly brand roller to give your walls a textured look (like sponging but not so defined) or fresca look.

A lighter blue or gray for the walls with the blue carpet would work well. As for the black and white checkerd floor walls, something that would work with the color you chose for the reception area if the walls touch or can be seen while in the waiting area. You don't want to get too funky with super clashing colors. You could use a sea foam green color. That way you stay in the aqua family of colors.

Concentrate on painting one wall a darker color to add contrast to the room. Check with a color chart to see what suits with your furniture best etc.

I think a tan or beige would be nice. It would make the blue of the furniture stand out, and if ever changed tan can go with about anything.

Depending on your decor I guess ...Victorian - dark matching blue or a burgundy on one wall and then camel color on the others. If you are doing a beach house look..light and airy I would go with light blue on the ceiling and one wall and then a light sand color on the other walls. The blue ceiling really gives you an outdoor feel.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

There are several other sites whose collection of plans have the dimensions totally wrong without any indication of parts lists, material lists or the tools needed. If you're one of those people who have bought plans like this in the past, TedsWoodworking will change your perception.
