Okay, I've tried the medicine and the therapy, but it looks like I'm just in a position where I'm going to be nauseus for the next few years, if not the rest of my life. What are some things you have done to distract yourself when you're nauseus?

Ginger Ale & Crackers. Sometimes if you try eating a saltine BEFORE you get out of bed, it helps...

Well, when I read the first part of your question on the page, I had an answer ready. But when I clicked on the "answer this question" button and read the rest of your question about probably being nauseous the rest of your life......maybe my answer won't work.

My answer is: When I get REALLY nauseous, I just give in and go ahead and throw up. I get it out of the way so I can feel better sooner. But I'd hate to think of you throwing up for the rest of your life.

Breathing fresh air? Sitting in a darkened, quiet room? Drinking 7-Up? I'm sure you've already tried these.

I feel for ya. Man.....That's awful.

When I was pregnant I got bouts of nausea throughout the whole pregnancy. To calm it, I chewed a strong fruit flavored gum. You know how your mouth produces more saliva when you are nauseated? The gum gets rid of that. Then when it went away I just spit the gum out.

If you get your mind into thinking that the gum is going to fix the problem, you will train your body to respond the way you want it to.

I look for the bottle of mechlazine hcl which is similar to Dramamine but is much cheaper. It is sold at pharmacies without a prescription, but for some reason is kept behind the counter so you have to ask for it. I have gotten it at Albertsons/Savon, CVS, and Walgreens. About $9 for a bottle of 100.

I eat saltines and have changed my eating habits. Sometimes what you eat can cause you to be nauseous, I find that if I eat certain spicy foods or fried food I have the same problem. The simple problem could be just a food allergy.

I pinch my arm or leg. It usually works. Takes my mind off of what is making me nauseated.
