When you join the army, you may request the MOS of MP, but whether you will get it or not remains to be seen. The army puts you where they want you. Even if you have a signed contract that you will be trained as an MP, orders can be cut in no time transferring you to another job OJT [on the job training].

John U is right on the money. Rule number one if you're an MP....don't unpack, you'll be deploying real soon. Days of "white hat" guard duty are long gone. If you're lucky inbetween deployments you'll do a few months pulling L/E (law enforcement) duty. After that, watch the news and you'll see where you'll be deploying soon. (It's still politically correct to deploy MP's, since the general public has no idea of the firepower that we bring.) This is the best job and branch in the Army. (The only branch where a PVT can get issued live rounds and a weapon and told to go his/her job without on-site supervision. that's why they're jealous.)

1st off, you must realize that you may be sent off to Iraq.

In other words, you must realize that you may come back dead, paralyzed, or amputees etc....

2CD You must also realize that you may be forced to kill another human being for being " philosophically, religiously or politically different from you.
or maybe for just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. ( this can happen anywhere? )

Just a few horrible thoughts to keep in mind ( I served " Peace time" ) it was fun, No war was on. this is not the case Now !

But to answer your question, the only pre-requisite is to do well on your Physical ( drug and alcohol test included) then the A.S.V.A.B ( Military entrance exam ) and finally a security clearance. ( for the past 5 generations???)

Talk to a recruiter :)

There is no experience required for any U.S. military job.

But, if you are or have ever been a member of the armed forced of any other nation, you cannot join the United States Armed Forces.

No experience is required. Just walk into a recruiters office, say you would like to be an MP and he/she will be happy to oblige you. You will also make their day.

When I joined way back in 81 they basically gave us a runaround for about eight hours. They they sat us down, one by one and asked us what we'd like to do. Then they ignored that and told us what was available. I expect it's about the same today, but perhaps not.

All that you need to join the Army is a police record, a low IQ and several other social disadvantages. Good Luck!

To put it simply, no you do not need prior experience. Experience is not required for any military position. They train you to be as they want you to be...
