After i apply my leave in conditioner, when is the best time to comb my hair, to minimize breakage and shedding.

I think you can use a wide toothed comb and gently comb is through, and then let it dry/dry it and then brush or comb however you want.

Yeah...everyone's hair is most fragile when wet, that's why sleeping with wet hair is bad. (I learned that the hard way). I'm glad you are being sensitive to it! (-=

After you wash, rinse, and squeeze out most of water; then wrap hair in a towel for a few minutes to blot up more moisture [ don't rub hair with towel ], apply leave-in conditioner, and COMB [ no brushing while wet either ] out tangles.
Be sure to use a good deep conditioner two to four times a month as well.

Do not listen to above. Only comb it in when it is wet, especially if it is relaxed. African American hair is intensely dry (most dry of other races) so it is best to comb it when it is wet and full of conditioner.

as soon as you put in the leave in conditioner. it will help detangle the hair but once the hair is dried and hasn't been combed it can get matted and knotted. just comb it gently and you should be ok
