Since you said, "I have braces help" I'll give you the BEST advice you've ever had.
#1. Brush after every meal. Pack a toothbrush with your lunch if you're at school. Toothpaste is not necessary, dry brushing after lunch is fine.
#2. Flossing is very important, but also time consuming and difficult to thread since you have braces. I recommend to my patients with braces that they get a Waterpik. I can't emphasize it enough. Waterpiks are awesome, they use a stream of water to flush out food and debris from around the brackets and between the teeth. It's the next best thing to flossing and it will keep your gums from swelling and over growing the brackets.
You can find a Waterpik almost anywhere (Wal-Mart, Longs Drugs, Walgreens, Bed Bath & Beyond, big stores like that). They cost about $40. They are messy to use, the mirror and your face will get wet, but it will save your teeth! Good luck.

Briefly after every meal, and then 2 'big brushes' (like 4 min) after you wake up and before you go to sleep

Mornings, every time after you eat something and before you go to bed. Each time brush for two minutes and don't forget to floss.
