It is not the right kind of faith if it puts a person above others..... misdirected faith. True Faith in the true God does not do this.

It's always been that way. People wear their religion like a badge when enough people agree with them to not have to worry about serious persecution.
When it's the one thing that grants them some feeling of significance, it can easily become blinding. This goes for more than just blind faith. Sometimes a little hope is all it takes for someone to be swallowed up by emotions while losing touch with their judgement. It's dangerous when fear and hope become a replacement for confidence and reason.
