OK- let's try this again. 17 Nextel Cup wins. 2 Busch Series titles. Wins at big races like Daytona and Talladega. Something like 22 Busch wins.
Yep- this guy's a real loser.....NOT.
You're right, he's not like his dad. He's Ralph Dale Earnhardt's son, not a clone.

You are correct. Jr. is not like his dad just like I'm not like my dad. Jr. and his father are two different drivers and people.

Do I think that Jr. is talented? Absolutely. He won two BGN Championships as well as Nextel Cup Races. I believe that Jr. suffers from a lack of decent equipment (DEI has fallen behind the times with technology) but more importantly, suffers from a lack of focus. Dale Sr. lived for racing and despite having outside business interests (cattle, etc.,) his main focus was that car and winning. Jr. is different. The best way to sum him up is an MTV Star driving a race car. Things would have been very different had Sr. lived. I believe that Jr. would have won at least a championship by now due to the focus that Dale Sr. would have instituted on him. Moving to Hendrick may be the best thing for him as Rick may be the leader that Jr. has been missing all of these years.

Oh, and I am not a Jr. Fan but I am a realist....

His father didn't have to put up with all the dumb rules NASCAR has these days. The cars were much different. IT WAS ALL DIFFERENT! I can tell by your question you're a little bewildered by what 6 DNF's can do to a driver. I bet it even psych's Dale Jr. out a little. Next year will tell the big story, because Junior had to make some tough decisions to "get himself right" Dale Earnhardt never had to deal with the regulations that they have today, or he probably wouldn't have had so much fun. In fact his death may have come at the time where NASCAR was at it's point in history, where NASCAR had more variables to make a winning driver way farther ahead than the other drivers, which was obviously the case. The regulations keep getting tighter which forces the competition to be more even. But if anyone on any of the teams daydreams too long or if a driver loses focus, they
aren't going to win. There's barely any room for mistakes, and sometimes none.

Very true and Jr said basicaly that he is going to hendrick because he wants to win. sure he might win a couple races but hes going to learn taht its his skills that need imporvments and switching to another team wont benifit him that much. the equipment might be a little bit better but if he doesnt win one of the first 5 races next year the comentors will be saying "was this the right move for Jr?" He tries to be too much like his father when he really isnt. I was in NH the year that Jeff Burton lead all 300 laps in that race and the only person he had trouble passing was Dale Senior. ill never forget because taht was the only time durring the race the fans actually had some thing to watch. no offence to Jeff Burton, it was a great win for him and should give him some greatness but the show that he and Senior put on was unforgettable. Junior will be forgettable.

Of course he is not like his dad as far as driving style is concerned. Its unfair to compare, but its a common error to do so. Now, to question Jr's ability as a driver is totally lagit and fair. I found myself asking this same question during his rescent slump. Then i saw an interview with DW, who might be the most candid, intelligent and informative voice in cup racing today. He says Jr is the real deal. that's enough for me. Funny thing is, If Jr never wins another race, he would still be my favorite driver, and I'm not sure exactly why.

Dale JR is nothing like his daddy. Dale Sr was a good driver. Dale JR got his fans from his daddy and Budweiser. Dale JR is not going to do nothing next year.

This is an age old question with age old answers.
When Dale earnhardt built this team he had the best of everything, equiptment, drivers, personel and management.
Since his death the quaility of the product has fallen and Junior could see this thus wanted the bigger share to attempt to right the team. But powers that be at DEI are collecting checks and making a proffit.
The leaveing of Junior opened some eyes at DEI but not the eye of the person that needed to be awaken.
the addition of Ginn is a step to bring the team up.
Will it ever be back to the Dale Earnhardt days,I don't think so but I can see an improvement in the quaility of the product happening in the next 2 years.

I definately think he's not as good as his dad was. I'm not saying he's a terrible driver, and I know he does not have anything sort of equpiment to work with. But I can't imagine that it's easy for him. He never wanted to be compaired to his dad. I think people should just lay off the poor guy a little (/lot)

No Jr is not all talk he is a very freaken awesome driver he has just had to much pressure on him. true he's not like his father in all ways but he doesn't give up and his father was the same. Like before Sn. won the Daytone 500 he didn't win for 2 years but he didn't give up.

Jr makes the Chase next year... not sure how much better he is than that. We certainly will see next year when he is in Hendrick machines and has no more excuses.

I never saw Sr race or anything but I just think people need to stop comparing Jr with his dad. He has a lot of talent, just because he doesn't have all those championships it doesn't mean anything. Jr is a great and talented driver, and he doesn't need to be like his father for that to be true.
