I left with half the congregation and the entire staff because of a pastor's heretical preaching.
The people who left, myself included, believe the Bible, and the pastor was publicly preaching things completely contrary to biblical doctrine (as well as doctrine for that denomination). The people remaining are there because of emotional ties to that particular church, and are just staying hoping that pastor will get re-appointed. That is sad.
That church is still reeling and it has been 4 years ago.
I didn't have to explain why I left, since so many others left for the same reason. I'm still friends with a few people there, but I refuse to talk about why I left.

Yes. In our case we left because we realized the church was dysfunctional. It had poorly developed doctrine which led it into error. It was using emotion and guilt to control people. As a result of its bad teaching it kept members immature in their faith.
We sent a letter to every member saying we were leaving and giving only general reasons why. We specifically denied certain reasons which we knew would be used against us (especially that we had slid into doctrinal error). We tried not to stir up too much controversy while at the same time giving some facts so that people wouldn't wonder what had gone on.
After we left a set of lies was crafted about us so that others would think we were sinners and wrong to have left. Over the next few years other families left this church for similar reasons. The ones who are still there have definitely drank the kool-aid.
Anyway, we found that once we were out everyone on the outside understood our reasons completely. It was just the mind-controlled zombies on the inside who had a problem with our departure, and we've come to the conclusion that we don't care what they think.

My leaving a fundamentalist church coincided with a move to another state, so I chose to just let it go on that basis as far as the church members were concerned; but upon arrival in the new town I didn't seek out a church in the same denomination (or any church at all for a while). I continued to read and study Scripture as well as church history, and ended up investigating the Catholic Church.
When in the process of my conversion I needed to get documentation of my baptism, that was when my former church was told where I'd landed. They were very gracious about it, but I'm sure it came as quite a surprise.

Any church I left in the past didn't care enough to ask why--that's why I left in the first place! I never had to explain to anyone my reasons.
If someone really cares about you and wants to know you can say it is a private matter (if you'd rather not share it) and that you hope they remember you in their prayers. Ask them how they are and generally change the topic.
Otherwise, if you end up sharing what caused you to leave (if it was a negative situation or a doctrinal difference) you'll most likely stir up strife, misunderstandings and be the topic of gossip. It may be best to pray before you decide to share anything with anyone.
-Or- you can just say you felt that God is leading you a certain way right now and leave it at that.
I'm in no way advocating for you to be insincere or deceitful but it is wise to pray about these things and make sure about what you are willing to share before you do so.
I hope this helps.

I dont go to church anymore. I have been to alot of different churches growing up, even some black churches, and they are all different. Same religion but thats the only simularity. Churches go based upon the preachers interperation of the Bible and every preacher has different opponions of what a certain passage means. I have eyes and I can read so I will make my own interperations

I left a small church to take my family to a larger church that had more activities for young people. I still fellowship with them and am happy to contribute when they have a special need. I told them the truth, and we have no enmity over my decision. In fact, when they were collecting to build a well for a small town in Haiti, I felt priveldged to give. I know that they are good stewards.

Yeah, I have.
I told them that I was not getting what i needed at the chruch I was at, that I was so hungry for the word of God I needed to hear someone that was annoited. Someone that was in the word ALL THE TIME.. Not just the night before a service.
I also left the church because I did not feel free. I could not get relaxed and praise God the way I wanted to without someone looking at me like I was a fool. People whispering. I like to raise my hands and praise him I like to clap loud! I love to shout praises to him..He is my Father. The Creater of all !
You really should not have to explain to them why, you could tell them thats between You and God!

No. + Purgatory + to speak indulgences, first we could talk approximately Purgation (or Purgatory). Are you suited now? optimum human beings ought to assert no. Will you be suited in heaven? optimum human beings have self belief confident. Purgatory (or purgation) is the technique of God's love changing our imperfect selves into suited beings. based on the quantity of replace mandatory via distinctive human beings this could be an worry-free or particularly harder technique. each guy or woman in purgatory is on their attributable to heaven. i do no longer think of of mom Teresa of Calcutta had an exceptionally no longer uncomplicated time of it. + Indulgences + the belief is that somebody can do acts of penance now on earth to make purgation lots much less complicated. Penance is internally turning one's coronary heart in process God and removed from sin in want in divine mercy and externally via fasting, prayer, and almsgiving. A corruption grew contained interior the Church some years interior the previous the area wealthy human beings ought to grant adequate alms (funds to the Church) to truly purchase an worry-free attributable to heaven. This grow to be one among Martin Luther's protests (hence Protestants) and surprisingly much immediately thereafter the Catholic Church wiped freshen up this custom. In 1567 Pope Pius V canceled all can provide of indulgences on the subject of any costs or distinctive financial transactions. yet undergo in techniques because of the fact each guy or woman in purgatory is already on their attributable to heaven, indulgences are not getting you into heaven. they only make purgation lots much less complicated. i assume in case you in all threat did no longer have self belief in purgatory then there ought to be no reason to stress approximately indulgences. With love in Christ.
