a. There is no such thing as "The Mormon Religion".

b. How does Galatians 6:10 show that the LDS church was founded on a lie?

c. Joseph Smith was not a con man and none of the witnesses of the Book of Mormon ever recanted their testimony of the Book of Mormon. One even had it carved on his tombstone.

d. No one has ever been able to point out any flaws or errors. I have, however, been able to find lots of flaws and errors in many non-LDS Christian doctrines, but they don't see it.

e. Galatians 1:8 has absolutely NOTHING to do with Moroni, and if you would read Galatians, you would know that. I wish people would realize that.

Some are deterred by the lies that they hear.

Some don't want to give up smoking and drinking.

Some want to spend their Sunday in recreational pursuits, and not going to church and doing good.

Some don't want to contribute ten percent of their income to do the Lord's work.

Some are deterred by what their friends or family would say if they joined the Mormon church. Some people can't stand ridicule or the disapproval of others.

Some are currently enjoying their life of sin, and don't want to be made to feel guilty for the kind of decisions they are making. They feel ignorance is bliss.

The Mormon church requires sacrifice of time, money, energy, some worldly pursuits, and devotion. They just aren't willing to commit.

Joining the Mormon church means giving up your current way of life for something that faith tells you will be something better. They are afraid to make a step of faith.

"I was born a _____, I was raised a _____, and I will die a _____" stubbornness. Reminds me of the Englishman who said "I was born an Englishman, I was raised an Englishman, and I will die an Englishman." His Scottish friend replied, "What? Have ye no ambition, mon?"

Galatians 1:8 However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to YOU as good news something beyond what we declared to YOU as good news, let him be accursed.

How did Joseph Smith get the book of Mormon? Revealed by an Angel right?

The scripture is clear on this matter.

If they are already in they need to want to know the truth more than they want the church to be true. They should ask themselves, "Would I be okay if the church were not true?" and feel that they would survive in such a disaster. Then they need to say to themselves, "I'm not afraid to search for the truth in all parts. I can discern for myself from truth and error. I don't need the church telling me what is true and what is false." In other words, they need to be able to think independently from the group. Not always easy with someone who is constantly reinforcing the group think, "church is true" mantra.

If they aren't in the church then what most people need is non-biased information about the church and its history. From this I mean information that isn't just trying to scare them, or convert them to the "real" Jesus. Its got to be academic with real scholarship and research without all the Christian crap in it.

I think actually having to live with some values deters a lot of people. We have high standards, and some people think they are too restrictive or too tough to live. Many people say our doctrine is weird, but the truth has never been popular, especially today.

Repetition
Realizing they are not progressing spiritually because it is the same material over and over again during church meetings and everything else. Realizing that not having all the answers is a good thing.

ANY0NE WITH A TRUE TESTIMONY OF THE LDS CHURCH WOULD NEVER LEAVE IT, BECAUSE THEY WOULD KNOW WITH ALL THEIR HEART THAT IT IS THE TRUTH IN THIS WORLD, AND I HONESTLY KNOW THAT I WOULD NEVER LEAVE MY CHURCH, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THE LDS CHURCH IS THE TRUE CHURCH, AND I GRATEFUL TO THE LORD FOR THIS KNOWLEDGE! FOR THE RECORD, MORMON, IS THE NOT THE NAME OF THE CHURCH THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IS THE NAME, THE RESTORED CHURCH OF CHRIST, YOU WILL BELIEVE THE SAME THING IF YOU WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE BOOK OF MORMON, BUT THAT IS ALL UP TO YOU.
